Seattle mayor blows $52 million on new streetcars that don’t fit tracks. This anti-Trump whacko might be the biggest dufus in American politics. The city is filling up with homeless, had to retract the “head tax” after Amazon and Starbucks had fits, and now this.

  • She sounds about as stupid as Albuquerque's former mayor. He talked the voters into a new bus line running down the downtown area, old Rte. 66, and it has been a fubar from day one. 12 miles of downtown has been reduced to one lane traffic each way to make room for the busses. There are no left turns except at designated intersections. Of the 20 electric busses ordered only 10 have been delivered and half those have major problems with the recharging system and cannot run a full 8 hour shift. The busses are 60 feet long and the turn arounds at each end of the route were not wide enough so they had to be rebuilt. Three of the designated left turn intersections were useless. The bus stops were built to close to the intersection so they had to be moved back about 50 feet.

    And the lowly cost for all this? A mere $97 million dollars. The problem is the mayor told everyone President Obama agreed to a grant for the $97 million only the city has not gotten it yet and probably never will. So it looks like the taxpayers in our largest city are screwed for a FUBAR that was never needed to begin with.

    • Damn you mean barky failed to follow through on something he said he’d do. Was there a red line drawn on Main Street?

      • To really screw things up the bus lanes are built in the middle of the street! And the only thing separating them from the traffic lanes is yellow stripes painted on the pavement. So, of course, since most of the electric busses don't run people are using the bus lanes to get where they are going. Which is driving cops nuts because they are supposed to ticket people driving in the lanes but how do they stop and ticket thousands of drivers during rush hour?

        The other "unforeseen" problem is the pedestrians. Since the fancy new bus stops are in the middle of the street riders have to cross one of the busiest streets in the city to get to them. If that isn't a fatality waiting to happen I don't know what is. The entire mess is a $97 million dollar fluster cluck and the city folks are stuck with it.
