All thanks to the Chancellor, who overruled the Low Pay Commission and said he wanted the minimum set at £9 within four years. It was a move of stunning audacity: he had stolen a flagship Labour policy, except even “Red” Ed Miliband only had the courage to call for an £8 hourly wage. So the Tories can proudly claim to be the real workers’ party, having ordered a huge pay rise for cleaners, bartenders, shelf-stackers and strivers all over Britain.
But there are two problems with the Living Wage: it will render unemployed those whose skills are not worth £9 an hour – and it won’t, really, help the poor. Most at the bottom will keep just £1 of every £3 they earn; the rest goes to the government via tax or lower in-work benefits. So most of the Living Wage increases end up with the richer households, paid to second earners and spouses of the wealthy. It ought to have been named the Inequality Act, as it will worsen the income gap between rich and poor. And worst of all, it risks dumping tens, perhaps hundreds of thousands of Britons on the new scrap heap of globalisation."

Figure this is a good spot to post about a book I'm reading. Thomas Jefferson and the Tripoli Pirates. Seems we've been doing battle with izlamb a lot longer than most of us realize.
The events that occurred back then are frighteningly similar to current events; the overall douchebaggery of islamic states have not changed a lot in the past 220 years. I'm only 1/3 into the book and the similarities that keep popping up are so maddening that I can't get through more than 30-40 pages at a time before I have to put it down and go check my BP!
