There's actually not a lot wrong with this idea. And in the case of some of the fires raging out of control due to government mismanagement of the forests, there's nothing to lose by trying it.
I remember that old John Wayne movie about Red Adair who used explosives to put out oil and gas well fires. So it makes sense if gooberment officials jumped right away a heavy bomb might work on forest fires. One boom, the oxygen is taken away, the fire dies out or stays at manageable levels. You are right about the mismanagement of the forests too. Between the eco freaks and the forest department and the BLM our forests are nothing but tinder boxes waiting to blow up.
