An open letter to college crybabies from a CEO. Man does this guy have it right. There is no safe space. We do think he should have included that you also don’t get participation trophies and no one’s going to tell you “good job” unless you actually do a good job.
Before you get all offended and run to your “safe place,” understand that I pulled that word right out of one of your trusted resources of knowledge – urbandictionary.com.
Here’s the first hit for the word:
wussification (verb): The act of turning one into a wussy.
The mother has been wussifying her children from young age.
The wussification of American children is notable.

I loved to hire college kids when I was running jobs, the first thing they got to know was a shovel and what it was for. A degree in mechanical science? I didn't care. A degree in advanced African studies? I didn't care. If they didn't know how to run a loader, dozer, backhoe, any kind of heavy equipment, they got a shovel. If they didn't know how to pour and finish concrete or lay a straight line of asphalt, they got a shovel. The few that lasted got a chance to learn how to run equipment, pour and finish concrete or work asphalt. The majority lasted less than 2 weeks, hard labor was "beneath them", and I still didn't care.
Some of the best employees I ever had didn't have a college degree, many of them didn't even finish high school. But they showed up on time, were willing to work and willing to learn. I couldn't ask for a better employee than that.
I have no tolerance for college kids, I prefer high school grads. I find that if the dropouts didn't have the initiative to finish school, then they didn't have the initiative to show up for work on time, if at all.
I worked for a small, family owned construction company back when I was an apprentice. The owner sent his son to college to get a civil engineering degree. When he came home, he got to spend a year on shovels and jackhammers. Then he moved up to dump trucks and water trucks. Then a lowly skiploader, then on up to bigger machines for a number of years. In between, he was checking grade, and following surveyors around.
Then, and ONLY then, was he made a foreman. And he was a damn find foreman.
Lets hope the Board of Directors for the company doesn't call in Mr Reyes and attempt to remove him from the CEO and presidency. It's about time that someone within the business world have pushed back against those who are turning out the "special snowflakes".
When life kicks the crap out of these "enlightened ones" they won't know how in the hell to deal with it.
I googled him out of curiosity and it appears he is the CEO of his own company with no board to answer to. http://thesilentpartnermarketing.com/about-us
Been lucky enough to not meet many of these special snowflakes, I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that they don't last long in a work environment. The first time a supervisor asks you to do your job, and you say no, it's out the door you go.
When I had my businesses I would hire and fire quick. When I found a keeper, I kept them.
One case was a receptionist that had a very good resume. About the third day I explained a fairly simple task for her to perform very explicitly. After doing this she said and I will never forget it, "It would be easier if you did that." She was fired on the spot.
For your amusement:

I do live here and agree completely but did not write this.
It must be nice to be able to fire on the spot like that!
I asked a guy to do something at work a few years back. His response was the he had already done X amount of work and then suggested, "Well, what is John doing right now?" I never came so close to putting my foot through someones a**hole before in my life. I recall that my response was deemed so inappropriate by this individual that he filed a union grievance on me. The union told him to stick his grievance in his ear and reminded him that his job description matched what I was asking him to accomplish.
Excellent. Been there as the boss. Love the one about the the women acting all flirty with the boss mostly because they have few or no other skills. Worked with some, not with me.
I had a receptionist that yakked on the phone all day with her friends about who was screwing who and where the party was tonight. Fired her and told the admin supervisor to never hire anyone under 40 again. She hired a 55 yo lady that was fantastic and was still there after I was transferred.
I love it! I think I'll print it out and post it for some people to read. Although, I think I may have to add something about phone internet use and listening to music on the phone.
Yeah on the phones. Some people can't take a piss without their phone.
I'm pretty sure there's an app for that.
Love it!
I hope Trump reads it.
This would be understated if Trump had said this.
