CNN: Trump is the Strongman We Don’t Need

CNN: Trump is the Strongman We Don’t Need. We can only assume that it isn’t strongmen that CNN objects to so much as it is straw strongmen that they happen not to like. They have certainly had few issues over the last several years with a man who has been the closest thing America has had to a strongman since FDR. A man who ignores the laws of the legislative branch, who defies the Constitution’s abolition of imperial powers, who rules by fiat and in general acts as though this country were his France of 1700 and he its Louis VIV.

Hillary Clinton steals the show at Iowa Democrats meet

Hillary Clinton steals the show at Iowa Democrats meet After twenty plus years in the national spotlight we are not surprised that the MSM is celebrating HRC having “stolen” something. We look forward to similar headlines after she steals the DNC nomination and maybe even the general election. (Ed: We added the following tweet because it was too funny to not).

Hillary Clinton Pokes Fun at Email Scandal During Wing Ding Dinner in Iowa

Hillary Clinton Pokes Fun at Email Scandal During Wing Ding Dinner in Iowa

“You may have seen that I recently launched a Snapchat account,” she said at the Iowa Democratic Party’s Wing Ding Dinner. “I love it. I love it. Those messages disappear all by themselves.”

Unfortunately for Hillary this story is going to be harder to kill than Ron Brown.

Sanders v. Greenspan not as Interesting as Greenspan v. Greenspan

Sanders verses Greenspan is not as Interesting as Greenspan verses Greenspan: You may have seen it recently. A meme purporting to show that Bernie Sanders called out the Alan Greenspan and predicted the Great Recession some five years before it happened. To Sanders supporters this is an amazing thing, however from the rest of us it illicits a giant “meh”. Lots of people predicted the housing bubble crash and did so decades before the scheme was begun. From Mises to Hayek and even Greenspan in 1966 and 1977. In fact if Greenspan had acted a little more like the free marketers that had once been his mentors and a little less like a Bernie Sanders the whole thing might have been avoided.

Low Oil Prices Pose Threat to Texas Fracking Bonanza

Low Oil Prices Pose Threat to Texas Fracking Bonanza: Or maybe the fracking boom is responsible for the low oil prices. Either way we expect the benefit to the consumer to be short lived. It can’t be much longer until the government finds a way in which this brief respite in the exploitation of the consumer can be mitigated.

News Corp CEO Slams Google, Social Media Companies for ‘Unnatural Act’ of Redistributing Content: Something must be done. If there are no more buggy whip factories what will Mr. Robert Thomson beat his dead horse with?

GLOBAL MARKETS-Stocks, yields tumble after China pushes yuan lower again

PANIC-Stocks, yields tumble after China pushes yuan lower again. Is the great wallet of China closing? Are they trying to re-inflate their production bubble by pumping up (and out) exports? Will this blow the artificially high prices of American stocks and pop our own Wall-Street/QE bubble? Who knows, but sooner or later we’ll all gonna get served a steaming plate of the poo poo platter and we can all cry in our nest-egg drop soup as we realize that our little slips of paper aren’t worth much even if they did come in a cookie called fortune.

Sally Kohn on GOP Debate: Hey look, it’s 10 men standing on a stage arguing why they should get to control women’s bodies and choices.

Sally Kohn on GOP Debate: Hey look, it’s 10 men standing on a stage arguing why they should get to control women’s bodies and choices. In Kohn’s mind the freedom of choice over our actions and bodies is absolute. Unless of course you want to opt out of Obamacare, own a bakery or are not a pregnant woman. In which case you are clearly the property of the state and had better get back to making her a cake.

Krugman: Behold the Deep Bench

Krugman: The GOP is no longer a normal political party.

NBC has the first post-debate poll; it’s an online poll, but using a methodology that worked very well in the midterm elections. And it does not, it turns out, show the predicted Trump collapse and rise of the establishment candidates.

Internet poll, schminternet poll. What do the fax machine surveys say?

Coca-Cola Funds Scientists Who Shift Blame for Obesity Away From Bad Diets

Coca-Cola Funds Scientists Who Shift Blame for Obesity Away From Bad Diets Silly scientists. The real money isn’t in working for cola companies trying to get people to believe things that are demonstrably false about soda. The real money is working for governments trying to get people to believe things that are demonstrably false about “global warming”.
