Bakery refuses to write “Trump 2016” on birthday cake

Bakery refuses to write “Trump 2016” on birthday cake. This is pure racism. Discriminating against Cheeto colored people. For shame.

A bakery in Louisiana refused to bake a birthday cake featuring the words “Trump 2016,” prompting questions as to whether the business will be fined in a similar vein to how Sweet Cakes by Melissa, a cake shop in Oregon, was forced to shut down after its owners refused to bake a cake for a gay wedding.

  • He has all the rights to not do that, but yeah OTHERS who also exercise that right shouldn't be oppressed by the government like the Christian bakers, etc. And let's remind ourselves that Gary Johnson believes in oppressing people in this way but the maniac is a SWJ so he probably give these people a pass.

    • Johnson is wrong on this, but I don't believe his motivation is that of a SJW. His true motivation is that if he supports the Christian baker the next question will be if he would also support denying service to people based on race. Rather than distinguishing the positions with a nuanced answer he is electing to avoid the trap altogether. Is it sneaky and sleazy? Sure. But IMHO that is what it is. As for his stated motivation he is giving the "nuanced" BS answer that subservience of services must be established because there could possibly be a monopoly (of wedding cakes I guess) and at that time those without access to wedding cakes would starve (I guess). Sure it is weak but the man would rather be a called a statist than a racist.

      • He is an idiot. He should just stand with his libertarian principles that states very simply that the government should not force people to do thing they don't want to do. The fact that he doesn't want to be called a racist yet calls others so (and he has) means he is a SWJ.

  • Time for an owner to attend sensitivity training and then have to sell or shut the bakery for discrimination. It wont happen, but one can dream, can the not?

  • We already settled this issue when the bakery owned by gay men was unwilling to make a cake with the Bible verse condemning homosexuality. Nothing happened to them. There is one law for the left, another law for the rest of us.
