California Ends Cash Bail, Bail Industry. Let’s create yet another bureaucracy, kill the bail bond industry and let criminals roam free. California descends further down the shithole.
Each of California’s 58 counties will establish local agencies that will set up a criteria for low, medium and high likelihood of an individual arrested on felony charges showing up for court hearings or being rearrested if released on their honor, according to the Sacramento Bee.

If they aren't going to be allowed bail, arrested people will simply demand their constitutional right to a speedy trial and the prosecutors are going to have a fit. They're almost never ready to prosecute anything in less than a year, and the accused generally don't mind because they're out on bail living their lives as normal. Now... okay, chumps, let's go to trial immediately.
Criminals are not going to be required to post bail, the courts are going to let them go with a promise to be good boys.
Catch and release is for fishing. There's a former DA in this area who always used that during his campaigns. He only showed in court for the high publicity cases, but he always had our backs in the court room.
