Couple years ago I was watching a Netflix or Amazon documentary about a sailboat trying to get through the "Northwest Passage." It was a European documentary and the philosophical theme running through the whole thing was that the Arctic is melting (gasp!) and so now we can sail through where centuries of people during the Age of Sail could not. I was ready to puke by the time it was over, but I was glad I finished it because, as I was expecting all along, they didn't make it. They got frozen in by the ice and they had to be rescued by a big cruise ship just so they could turn around and head back where they came from. I was laughing my ass off at their obstinate ignorance by then.
