@RealDonaldTrump ‘We Will Ban All Devices That Turn Legal Weapons into Illegal Machine Guns,’ Like Bump Stocks.  The President has no clue what he’s talking about. The Democrats will take bump stocks and turn this into a ban on anything they can BS as being able to increase the firing rate including goose grease. Take a custom trigger for example. I have one on my AR-a5 because the factory trigger had 5 miles of gritty pull before let off. It was so bad I could use it like a 2-stage trigger. The one I have now has about a 3.5 pound pull, almost zero take up and is very smooth. Will it increase the firing rate? I doubt it. Will the Democrats say it does and try to ban it? You can bet your bippy.

  • I don't have a bump stock, but a friend let me use his once. It's not as easy as they make it sound to get consistent rate of fire. It's also nothing more than a way to waste ammo, because trying to aim with it while trying to control pressure on the foregrip and trigger at the same time is an exercise in frustration. It was fun to blow out a crapload of money with the thing, but I wouldn't really want to have one and depend on it in an emergency situation.
    That said, what I want to know is, what are they going to do with all the people that bought them legally? Are they going to start arresting owners for having them, grandfather them in, or do a buyback program? What about the crank handles that also do the same thing? They're just making a huge logistical problem for themselves.

    • I saw one, dumb idea. Fully automatic is better but still you toss bullets everywhere. Even the good old three round burst tends to raise the gun.

  • I've hunted all my life. Bolt action, lever action, and semi-automatics and I never heard of a bump stock until the Las Vegas shootings. They're interesting but unnecessary and an easy piece of equipment to ban without banning the guns themselves. This makes the ignorant gun grabbers feel better and does not interfere with our 2A rights.

    • The only fully automatic weapon I carried was an M-16 when I was in the service and we very rarely used them that way. A waste of ammo, semi auto was almost always good enough. When we did go to full automatic though, that was when we knew we were in deep shit!

      I agree with you on the hunting thing. When I was a kid I killed more deer with a plain old .22 Marlin than a lot of people did with all their fancy 30.06's and .273's. I also have an old 30.30 saddle rifle, a carbine, that my grandfather gave me and have killed plenty of deer and elk with it. Just gotta know how to hunt is all!

  • I've heard that if you know what you're doing you can use a belt to jury rig a bump stock; are we now supposed to walk around with our pants below our knees so that the fragile flowers of Progressive youth can feel safe?

  • They are playing the long game and will take the 2A one bite at a time. They've resigned themselves to this but make no mistake, that's their ultimate goal. Give them the bump stock, it's a gimmicky POS that most people buy to cook off some rounds out in the boonies to blow off steam. It was marginally effective in Vegas because the guy had a fish in the barrel situation. Without that kind of corralled targets, it's a spray and pray add-on at best. Try getting into a shoot out with real law enforcement, using a bump stock and my money is on the LE people.
