So long, Salon, don’t let the door hit you on the way out. Salon.com, the virulently left-wing online news site that never met an issue they couldn’t skew, is going out of business. Apparently, being a news site more interested in propaganda than the truth isn’t a viable long-term business plan.

This is Trump's fault. He emboldened right wing nationalists and. fostered atmosphere of hate that resulted in the failure of salon.

The New York Times would already be history if billionaires Carlos Slim and George Soros hadn't been propping it up. Regardless of their financial support, I think it's only a matter of time before the paper starts downsizing its way into bankruptcy. They've squandered whatever public image they used to have. Most people outside New York City consider the newspaper a humungous joke. And there have been signs that Slim is getting sick of having so much money invested in a losing enterprise.
But, what will we do if they stop printing?

Slate has been bleeding red for years but it's owned by the holding company that sold the Washington Post to Bezos so they have lots of money to waste. Plus Slate was founded by and is supported by Microsoft, so even more money to waste.
Salon should have been gone years ago, but as the article points out, two Progressives with more money than sense kept them afloat. I hope the editorial employees affected by the shutdown never find gainful employment again.
I'm sure they will find work, The Onion is always looking for writers.
For that, you need a sense of humor and the ability to distinguish real from satire.
They could get real writers to punch it up after the Salon people get done making up stories.
