Don’t look now but Germany just capitulated to Trump on trade. According to the Wall Street Journal, the U.S. ambassador to Germany is headed to Washington with an offer from German automakers to “abandon all import tariffs for cars between the European Union and the U.S.”

  • So the threat of a trade war works again, as it no doubt will continue to do so with China and Canada in a little while. The only thing concerning trade negotiating Trump is doing differently from his predecessors is that he's conducting the negotiations in public.

    • That's what I think. Canada and China are making a lot of noise right now but in the back rooms the businessmen are saying, "Hey, we need that U.S. market so don't do anything stupid. If Trump wants free trade, give him free trade."
