This si so old it has hair on it -try again and this time use something real. Evangelicals support Trump about 4 to 1
No one is disputing that. The question is why. Why would "value voters" choose someone that holds none of their values? Are they tired of picking evangelical candidates that either fail to live up to their expectations or sell them out? Do they just want someone they think will win? Are they predisposed to support a strong man? Those questions, and ones like them, is what makes this important.
Good questions. I wanted an assassin in Romney, but he wasn't... his philosophies perhaps stopped him. I commend his peaceful spirit on a personal level, but I must admit this country needs a guard dog that WILL bite AND tear through the BS situations and people... perhaps others feel the same way and Cruz didn't give them that vibe? Trump may give off that sense?
The question is can Trump be trusted to do it? Or will he just be another corruptable swine?
I can understand the hesitation for Romney. He was just too nice a guy. And obviously his theology differed greatly from evangelicalism.
I was surprised they did not go for Cruz. The man stood up to all of congress. The man (though I don't always agree with him) has a spine of steel. And the man, though flawed in numerous ways, is a true believer. He is who they have been waiting for.
I just hope he's around in the future, because those who made the mistake of not going for him this time, will be hoping he's there for us next time.
Assuming that Ted Cruz is a good man (or that there are good people out there that could govern), there will be a time when people who would be good governors of the people (in this and other countries) WHEN the people REALLY need them, they will say... Nah! Everything has literally gone to hell, there is no fixing this at least not from a human perspective or why should I be put in charge of crap when there was a time to fix it, the people did nothing to fix it when there was time. (Isaiah 3 (v. 6-8))
We shall see... There is hope for at least one more opportunity to make things as right as we can make them, but all in all we need to pray.
I've been having the same thoughts. In fact I posted on here, somewhere the other day, that Trump would probably have a better chance in the general election than Cruz for similar reasons. I just hope the answers to your last two questions are 1-yes and 2-no.
Cruz is nice because he loves the word NO. He IS an Assassin... I've seen him destroy bitches... Bitches run from him weeping or they look like idiots when they can't debate the truth. ... but... not sure what happened he just didn't bring it I guess.... to the NATIONAL market. so... yeah... :-/
That is what confounded me. Cruz is a fighter, a wonk and a true believer. Trump is a fighter but he vacillates and obviously knows little about the religion (Two Corinthians, trying to put money in the communion plate and so forth). For me that isn't a deal breaker. I could get behind a liberty loving candidate that was not religious. But I'm not a values voter or politically evangelical. That they ignored so many values for him is fascinating. More so because Cruz is everything they've ever wanted.
Cruz is what everyone said they wanted, but he wasn't a big mouth like Trump. Think about it. Last time Trump ran, but didn't get far, because he was quiet. Now he went bombastic and got the votes.
I don't need the President to be religious either or at least to wear his religion on his sleeve. He just has to follow the Constitution and make sure he is not insane.
I don't know how to answer your question. Maybe there is something else that was missing, maybe there is a force at work here that is not easily ignored. I don't know.
Where were they when Cruz was running? Watching WWE I reckon
What is WWE I? I and most of my fellow church members were for Cruz. Trump appeals to mostly non-christians, of which there are more of. Wide is the road that leads to destruction.
I really would like to know why so man went for Trump over Cruz. Cruz is just about everything an evangelical would want. Trump is not. So what did they perceive as the difference between the two? And why did they choose the guy that believes little of what they do?
You got me. My best guess would be that there is a majority in every voter block that wants an outsider.
World wrestling entertainment. YouTube McMahon/trump to get some background.
Oh, Thanks.
You're so welcome. Say hey to the brethren and sisteren.
They flocked to him. It was the weirdest thing ever. I have no problem with voting for a guy that might not past the evangelical litmus test but, as a group at least, they acted as though he passed such a test and their leadership has been confirming it. And they did this at a point in which Cruz was the alternative.
Thanks for the information Kip. Now I feel embarrassed.
Embarrassed? Why?
For implying the pastor's group was a bunch of wrasslin fans.
