Facebook and Reddit actively censoring information about Orlando massacre

Facebook and Reddit actively censoring information about Orlando massacre. Facebook deleted Pamela Geller’s “Stop Islamization Of America” group, which has existed since 2010 and has 50,000 members, and Reddit is deleting all posts with any information or discussion about Orlando.

  • I have been spending less and less time on Farcebook, and have never been to red-idiot.
I'm actually surprised it took Farcebook this long to shut down Geller's page. She's very anti-Islamic terrorist, so Schmuckerberg should have gone after her long ago.

  • Farcebook and reddit are social media sites not serious places to post real news or opinions. Women post pictures of their babies, boys talk about getting laid last night, child molesters hunt for victims, of course they are going to censor tragic news. Why anyone would post serious opinions on these sites is beyond me, it's a total waste of time.

    • This might be about the new rules the EU placed on social media. Facebook may have simply instituted the rules worldwide so they don't have to maintain multiple levels of censorship.

  • As the article mentions, this was only an issue in the subreddit r/news. From my experience, that subreddit has a lot of issues with censorship because there are some weird mods for that subreddit.

However, this isn't a problem for the entire website. In fact, there was a lot of healthy discussion on the events yesterday in other subreddits. Hopefully, the owners of Reddit address r/news soon.

    • I don't go to Reddit, but isn't the r/news the main news place? According to the link, the only subreddit allowing the exchange of information and comments about Orlando is the Trump supporters one.

      • It was for a while but with the way mods have been running it many redditors have been flocking to other subreddits to discuss news such as r/conservative , r/politics (has a pretty liberal bias).

If my memory serves I think they had a mega thread in the r/askreddit for the Orlando shooting ( which was indeed odd)...
