They should have just closed up shop and moved off the island. I'm sure their economy wouldn't be bothered by losing all those jobs and taxes.
That is what everyone forgets about.
The stunning thing about this is that the Puerto Rican government does not understand that private businesses are not allowed to print their own money, and thus excess taxation will drive them out of business.
Your use of the adjective "Puerto Rican" is probably unneeded..
