First recipient of Trump endorsement gets shellacked in primary

First recipient of Trump endorsement gets shellacked in primary. RINO Renee Elmers is out, gone, history–barely scraping up enough votes to squeak into second place. She tried to latch onto Trump’s coattails and got nothing but a handful of orange hair.

  • You don't suppose it had anything to do with following in the footsteps of the rest of the Republicon party do you?

    • What did I do? And weren't you the one having a hissy fit because I called her a RINO? Have you noticed that your fellow Trumpsters are busy calling her a RINO now that she lost?

Y'all are so busy hero-worshipping, you can't decide what your arguments are. It's sort of funny.

      • No. No one had a hissy fit and only one poster defended her, not the hordes you pretend you stand strong against.

Only an idiot and fool is still trying to paint Trump supports in a bad light. Losing is hard, I get it. But at least try having a little grace. Just like the Trump protesters some of you guys with DTS on this site are dishonest and just nasty. Its almost painful to witness - but then again funny as hell.

  • A pro life, open border was defeated because she was endorsed by Trump in a last second radio ad? Come on JP, your bias is showing. The woman was defeated for a lot of reasons and Trump didn't have anything to do with it.

    • Yes, my bias... let's talk about bias. When I pointed out that Trump had used his first and so-far-only endorsement ever to back a RINO, Trumpsters jumped all over me trying to explain how she was a bona fide conservative of the highest caliber. You can read the exchanges here: https://www.ihatethemedia.com/trump-makes-first-congressional-endorsement. But now that she's lost the primary and Trump looks like an idiot (for about the millionth time), here come the Trumpsters shrilly arguing the opposite, shrieking about how she was a RINO and THAT'S why she lost.

Either she was a RINO and you have to explain why Trump would want a RINO to win, or she was a good conservative who lost in spite of the Great Donald's endorsement, which means he has no coattails and whether he wins or loses in November the Republican Party is facing a nightmare.

  • 1. She was a true conservative with Boehner and Ryan.
    2. Her district was changed.
    3. She was in for all of the true conservative goals: the cromnibus and funding all of Obama's agenda.

Clearly this is all Trumps fault. You know I remember all the campaigning Trump did for her...wait. Well with any luck the new guy can be beat by a donk to show us rubes that are Trump supporters. That will show us.

    • As someone who lives in NC, redistricting was the right thing to do, I am thrilled with it. I was in the old district 12 (orange on the map and ridiculously gerrymandered) but now I am in the new district 13 (mint green) the change was done because old district 12 and old district 1, were ruled unconstitutional due to the gerrymandering. the new redistricting follows more closely to county lines but not strictly so.

      • Maybe I'm wrong but I thought you could figure out that post. I guess I overestimated, so I will change accordingly to your anti-trump rant posts....and also type slower.

        1. Her other stances such as sticking with the "true Conservatives" of the RYNO party might have done a bit of damage to her campaign.

        2. The make up of her district was changed, even though it excluded the man that won, so she lost the old voting pattern. Could have been a factor.

        3. I guess you missed the par where she was Boehner's right hand woman even though being voted in on the 2010 Tea Party Wave.

But, it was all Trump's fault for not dragging her over the line?

JP, your arguments are heading more and more to the the cooky ranch. I'm only trying to bend your curve...ah...straight line to the gates.

        • The fact that she was a RINO is exactly the point, moron. Your pseudo-conservative candidate endorsed a RINO, which should, if your mind hadn't been sucked out by aliens, tell you where his heart lies. And then, as you contemplated that, your mind should also have suggested to you that if Trump had any real support among conservatives, his endorsement would have done SOMETHING. Cripes, when Sarah Palin used to endorse someone, it had an effect. In fact, Sarah Palin's endorsement is how Renee Elmers got into office in the first place. Elmers didn't just lose, she flamed out like a Cleveland pro sports team. She barely squeaked past some doctor for second place. Think about it: the incumbent almost came in third. It almost makes you wonder if Trump's endorsement hurt her.

    • that was part of it...she also betrayed pro-lifers (she ran as pro-life but voted pro-choice)...and she was also a cronyist, many ads against her for the cronyism (fleecing the people of NC, etc.)...I guess it's safe to say she had her "3 strikes"
