I watched a video earlier where Beck was stumping for Cruz in a caucus voting location. Trump walked in to talk to the voters and they abandoned Beck in a heartbeat to listen to The Don.
Trump is a candidate, Beck isn't. That's pretty self explanatory.
Beck lost me a while ago. He's trying to take a dramatic play out of The Donald's book and he's making an ass of himself.
I like Beck alright, but there comes a point where he loses me. Personally I see fasting as a legitimate way of having a closer communion with God, but I also see it as a super personal thing and I don't know that I would ever advise a radio audience to engage in it.
That being said I think he is right about Trump and Rubio.
Glenn Who?
Who's he hurting, really?
Potentially the people who decide to fast with him. If they do this improperly they could end up in the hospital or dead.
He explained today how to do it safely. Skip lunch or skip dessert or skip the snacking.
Then it's not fasting it's a diet.
That might actually do some of us some good.
A new workout program helped me lose 20 pounds last week. I went to the local clothing store and bought bigger pants. (snicker)
Daniel 4:17 people. Beck may need to re-read this to understand his input into the matter is minimal. So, is The Donald the 'basest of men'? Perhaps. Perhaps he is the politically incorrect rules breaker we need. Time will tell.
I wouldn't be so quick to fast
Pace puns? Really? I have one but I can't remember it--I need something to jog my memory.
We can set up a running thread.
Why does it always come down to race?
Because so many of us are slow to get out of the starting blocks.
That's a win.
Beck has finally gone full twatwaffle.
Fasting and praying are part of religious practices. Not just Christians but billions of other religious practitioners so not sure why this is something bad or crazy?
For cleansing and simplifying, getting one's mind in the place to focus on God for an intense period.
But for a political campaign, it seems to lend an air of holiness to a candidate. That's weird for me. Manning the phones or doorbelling would be more effective.
So... a private citizen takes the religious route to evoke prayers and consideration for a person that he favors because he is afraid that another person would screw up the country worst... I don't really see the problem... but okay... I pray and fast for people, for a cause, etc.
Alright, that also pretty much sums up how I feel.
Not that it's bad or crazy, but it seems a little out of place for a political campaign.
????? Is Beck part of Cruz's campaign?! Or is he a private citizen supporting a candidate and doing it the religious route?
I'm with you. Even though I'm not a Glenn Beck listener (too much silly snarkiness and laughing), this seems perfectly fine to me. If it worked for Gandhi, whose fasts didn't even tap into the power of Christianity... oh wait, Beck is no longer Christian either. Still...
Thanks. Yeah I am not into him, but certainly this is not the strangest nor whackiest thing he has done nor said.
A rare event, I was in my car this morning during the Glenn Beck show and happened to hear him interview a pastor about this. The pastor made some awesome points about the never-ending spiritual war between spiritual descendants of Esau and spiritual descendants of Jacob. Basically, the pastor was saying it's unsettling and even frightening that so many people ostensibly Christian and in positions of leadership in Christian churches have reacted so negatively to the notion of Glenn Beck's call for prayer and fasting.
For real... I mean it is odd! You read both the First and the Second Testaments and that is almost always the touted most responsible response that someone can have when they encounter an issue or a grave matter. It is FAR better than killing and raping which would be the Muslims' way of handling issues.
Jesus did that ALL THE TIME. He told His followers, get back here and pray and fasting can be a form of rest (resting of your body). The Lord fasted a lot and we don't even know all the reasons why He did it. People are encouraged to rest during Sabbath and that can include fasting with the prayer. Queen Esther "before I present myself before the King to ask him a favor and possibly die because he hasn't asked for me, let me (and the rest of y'all) pray and fast" did it. The Apostles and disciples prayed and fasted before major issues and events. I mean it is like Judeo-Christianity 101. I don't get the hate either.
Yeah, that pretty much sums up how I feel.
Well, I listen to him in the mornings during the week. He does tend to go off the rails once in a while. He is a huge Cruz supporter, and has given many reasons why Trump and Rubio are a bad choice. He isn't the only one that has great reasons why Trump and Rubio are bad for America, I read this earlier today, and it just reinforces my desire for them to lose, and Cruz to win.
Donald Trump, Marco Rubio and the death of America

Yeah, I'm with you, Rubio and Trump are flat-out liars, about almost everything, and I don't think a fast is all that bizarre considering how Trump is taking all hope for this country down the drain. All I can say to Trump supporters is: if you love abortion, the government mandate for healthcare, and crony capitalism, you must love Obama because those two are basically the same person.
