Is this an example of cancelling by the GOP?
The Rays built the original stadium in one of the worst parts of town. A total slum. They got the land cheap, and now want to move to a better neighborhood, but everyone is bitching about the cost.
I couldn't be happier that DeSantis is killing this.
All these sport team owners need to stop expecting the taxpayers of the communities they are in to pay their damn bills for them. Hell when you go to these stadiums and arenas and buy anything you need to have a loan of some sort.
They gave 50k to everytown for gun safety.
They can build their own damn stadium.
The story eventually gets into a better reason for nixing the spending than the team's foray into public wokery: taxpayer money should not go to private businesses such as sports teams. This practice is crony capitalism at its worst.
