Happy Thankgiving.
Different daughter's house this year. I thought a tradition had been established at younger daughter's house but apparently younger daughter did not agree, pointing out that older daughter likes to cook and entertain and she does not. Plus younger daughter has four young children. So that was the end of that tradition. One thing everybody agrees on is that we don't want Thanksgiving at my house anymore. My attempts to cook a turkey are rather legendary. One year I was waiting for the little pop-up thingie to pop up. Everybody kept saying, "Take the turkey out of the oven!" I kept replying, "The pop-up thingie hasn't popped up yet!" Eventually I realized the pop-up thingie was unable to pop because it was restrained by the bag into which I had stuffed the giant turkey. That turkey was so dry you COULD NOT swallow a bite. Younger daughter's husband and I actually made a monetary bet, me claiming I could chew and swallow a bite of turkey, him betting I could not. After five or so minutes of useless chewing and a couple sips of water, I gave up and spit it out. Unswallowable.
I have a pork butt on the Traeger, slow cooking, No one's real excited about turkey around here.
