  • Here in Florida, I don't have a vote to waste on Gary Johnson (I don't care for him anyway). Reinstalling the Clintons in the White House is a far greater danger to the country than Trump could ever be if for no other reason the GOP leadership will so easily be paid off while HRC gives away the country. Trump offers neither side anything at this point. That's good, in my opinion.

We can all pine for the perfect candidate. Doesn't change a thing. First things first. The Clintons have to go.

    • Utopia will not be found under the blanket of altruism or anywhere else.

Any vote against the only candidate that can prevent us from hearing something like 'madam president clinton today nominated barack obama to the supreme court.' is quite a wasted vote.

We have all learned by now that the media can only be defeated by someone who is charismatic enough to not be ignored, like him or not. Gary Johnson stands not a snowball's chance in hell of succeeding in anything but a clinton victory. He has considerably less charisma than my old partially stuffed iguana that I got at a shop in Tijuana in 1963 or so.

      • The long knives are certainly out for Trump. The globalists in both parties don't want their cozy arrangement upset by an outsider who connects with a large swath of the population - especially those who are traditional and reliable Dem voters.

So he has to go. The crap I read in the WSJ (see today's Brett Stephens editorial) and other publications that try to exploit the Kahn thing. For Pete's sake, has anyone here taken the time to see what kind of man he is? I don't give a crap whether or not he's a gold star father. Not one. He didn't sacrifice, his son did. He has no more moral superiority because of his status as grieving father. He stood on his kid's corpse to attack Trump. For what? Hillary voted for the war that took the junior Kahn not Trump. Kahn held up his pocket Constitution and proceeded to misinterpret it and make an ass of himself to anyone who knows anything about its contents especially where immigration is concerned.

I fully understand the contempt many of you have for Trump. He can be a pig, but in my opinion, he is the only one left to stop the slide we are on. We can argue all day whether or not he passes the conservative purity test. He can't, by the way, but he can veto the TPP, and that is far more important.

Anyway, that's my $.02. Hillary will likely win because the GOP stabbed him in the back and ignored the will of the people who elevated him to the nomination. That's just great! Good job.

Last thing, I don't want to hear anything about wait until 2020. By then the SCOTUS will be 6-3 liberal and merely another component of the DNC.

  • @JustMe

You did not address specific points of the article nor did you refute any of the points illustrating how progressive and anti-capitalist Trump is. I suspect this was not by accident but was rather because you can't. But if you are comfortable voting for a guy that is open to raising the minimum wage, believes in large amounts of government intervention in the economy, wants a tariff, is a corporatist, opposes due process, supports gun control and wants to replace Obamacare with some other equally abhorant form of state health care control then the very progressive Trump is your man. As for me I am not willing to vote for a liberal (and not in the classical sense) just because he has had an R next to his name for all of the last 18 months.

    • Because they are ridiculous. You want to believe, no one is stopping you. I have been discussing them here for months, over the objections of the "in" crowd here. It is a fluff piece geared toward those who already hold the same wrong headed positions. Name calling and silly put downs from those who can't tolerate Trumps silly antics. Hypocrites on parade.

To sum it up.... A millenional GOP kid might not vote for Trump...pure poppycock. Millenials are socialists, but wait.....no, they're capitalists and see through bad man Trump. Insert numerous petty funny one liners and half truths (putting it mildly) and you cement your following. Stupid.

You are not willing to vote for a liberal.....blah blah blah....
      If you say so.

I will vote to keep Hillary out. To me that is more important than being dishonest as to why not to vote to keep her out.

      • It is a fluff piece geared toward those who already hold the same wrong headed positions.

Actually it is a piece geared toward those that understand economics well enough so as not to be fooled by a corporatist in capitalist clothing.

Name calling and silly put downs from those who can’t tolerate Trumps silly antics. Hypocrites on parade.

Silly put downs and name calling has got to be close to 80 percent of Trump's campaign strategy.

To sum it up…. A millenional GOP kid might not vote for Trump…pure poppycock.

A millennial GOP kid might very well not vote for Trump, especially if the reason they identify with the GOP in the first place is due to a genuine distaste for big government.

Millenials are socialists, but wait…..no, they’re capitalists and see through bad man Trump.

A millennial might well identify as a socialist and not be one -after all Trump identifies as a free market capitalist and is not one. Or the survey may have been incorrect and there may be other surveys that show most millennials do not identify as socialists. Or they might be socialists today (or at least think they are) but when confronted by reality will switch. There is a clever Winston Churchill quip about this. There is also historical evidence. Arguably more baby boomers were yuppies in 1989 than had been hippies in 1969.

You are not willing to vote for a liberal…..blah blah blah….
        If you say so.

True, I won't be voting for a progressive. But if you're comfortable with a guy that supports tariffs, economic interventionism, suspension of due process, gun control, imminent domain, is open to raising minimum wage and thinks we need a state system to oversee health care then I suppose you have found your man.
        .

        • You're arguing with a brick wall. This one is the pretend to be Conservative version of she whose name must not be spoken.

  • I really get tired of people that are voting for the lesser of two evils telling me that I'M wasting my vote by voting Libertarian.

    • My vote is too important to hand to either the progressive Republican or the progressive Democrat. Now I may have been willing to compromise for a Conservative that would get government out of peoples lives (including their bedrooms) but I will not vote for anti-liberty candidates.

        • Sorry. My lessons on liberty were learned from the writings of Thomas Jefferson, Friederich Bastiat, Ludwig von Mises, FA Hayek, Ricardo, John Stuart Mill and the like. But nice try and better luck next time.

PS- If you think the liberty movement will be advanced by a statist, tarriff loving, think skinned strong-man then I must suggest you get yourself a copy of the following and read it immediately.

          • Kip, don't bother wasting your time talking to her. She's stubbornly refusing to note anything that doesn't praise Trump as the next Reagan. Anything that doesn't agree with her viewpoint is stupid in her eyes. If I didn't know better, I would swear she's my ex-wife.

          • LOL. You're right, she isn't worth the time. But sometimes I just can't resist tweaking a Trumpbot. :)

          • Being smart and honest enough to understand which way the tide is rolling doesn't make a Trumpbot. Being foolish enough to happily be lied to and believe the lies is the markings of an idiot. Sorry guys, but its true. Cruz, and all the rest crashed and burned. I saw it coming while you all tried to deny it. Calling me names and putting me down serves nothing. The conspiracy theory that the GOPe is behind Trump is so laughable it makes one wonder if you people have lost your senses.

Spoiler alert, dummies. It's going to be Hillary or Trump. Your smug superior mutual admiration society click here looks just silly.

And, when did bragging about failed marriages become cool? I know it wasn't you, but two of your TDS buddies have.

          • Voting for a progressive just because he is a strong man with an R next to his name is what makes you a Trumpbot.

          • Non-responsive but not unexpected

We are judged by the company we keep. I happen to be in very, very good company trying to keep Clinton out of the White House.

            You can't make that claim.

          • I am in the very good company of those that would not vote for the Progressive with an R by his name just because he wasn't the progressive with a D by it

          • If not voting for Trump is a vote for Hillary then how about I just not vote for Hillary since that would be vote for Trump. Happy now?

          • Sure, voting 3rd party shows that the political interest is there, just not for the progressive with the R by his name or the progressive with a D by hers.

          • I have my doubts, but hey, what ever floats your boat. No link or logic in the world can overcome ones aid to the enemy through smug superiority. It is what it is. Your important vote is about you. My vote is about destroying Hillary. We just see things differently.

          • In case you haven't noticed, all the voting for the Obama opposition didn't do us any good. Besides, we now have gotten 3 bad choices in a row. When the establishment refuses to listen to the people, we end up with who they manipulated into position. They don't care about what we want, just what they want. When they can't get what they want, they allow us to get someone that will lose, or be such a bad choice, that they will be able to tell us "We told you so".

          • I have my doubts you learn lessons.

PS. You didn't read the link, so why discuss any further. You have made it clear you want nothing to do with changing the course of the country. Sit back and enjoy your importance.

          • I did read the link. It was a bunch of apologist non-sense that sought to justify voting for a progressive because it is politically expedient. Speaking of links why haven't you discussed the text of the one this entire post was built around?

          • He is not running on a progressive platform. See, you don't learn, you retain a false narrative. You're a Johnson guy, I get it. But being dishonest doesn't prop up your position.

I did address it, it was stupid.

Again, there are two choices and the rest are protest votes (fine by me, but be honest). Libertarian blogs trashing Trump are not going to destroy Hillary's chances of winning. Or Trumps.

    • I'm sorry, but that's the way I feel. Trump may be the greater of two evils. It's a gamble I'm willing to take. I'm looking at the odds. To me the odds eliminate any third party. Again, I'm sorry if I offend anybody. I will no longer use that phrase, here.

      • If everyone that's sick of Republicrats would vote their conscience, Johnson would win in a landslide. I'm just a couple of decades ahead of the rest of the voting populace.

        • I respect your reasoning. I shouldn't be saying that anybody is wasting their vote. Especially the ones that actually votes their conscience. The ONLY ones wasting their vote are the ones not voting.

          • I believe any vote cast this election is wasted.Consider it as me about facing the rigging and general disgust with what passes for my country's best interest. My conscience always has led my vote.

      • It's a libertarian blog trying to give aid to Johnson. He won't be president, no matter how hard they try. And most millennial GOP will be smart enough not to let Hillary get elected. Too bad the same can't be said for all so called conservatives.

        • That doesn't explain how the article is "stupid". As for what can't be said for all conservatives I'd likely vote libertarian even if the GOP had nominated one. Unfortunately they didn't. They nominated a progressive.

          • "perhaps making the Libertarian Party the only serious competitor to the Democratic Party in the battle for the hearts and minds of the under-30 crowd."

            Nuff said!

          • What is wrong with wanting a viable alternative for the "under 30 crowd'? More importantly what wrong with wanting a viable alternative to the choice of either a progressive Republican or a progressive Democrat?

          • I haven't voted Republican since Reagan, and I've NEVER voted Democrat. And, trust me on this, the Republicrats aren't getting my vote this time either.

    • They love it sooo much that's why they're living in mommy & Daddy's basement. With almost a $trillion in student loan debt floating around out there, eh?

      • Dude, CURRENT YEAR, dude! We can like... uh, get Capitalism AND get the free stuff, relax and dusum weed, lmao!

      • That is an accurate description of a great many of that generation, but I think we must consider that there might be a great silenter majority (behind the loudest and most absurd of them) that are responsible, thoughtful and will not accept what their "leaders" are have in store. Especially when they realize that the topdown control sought after is at great variance with the freewheeling flow of information growing up in the age of high speed Internet has allowed for. These kids have capitalism (and the freedom of capitalism) built into their generational DNA and I hope that just as the hippies turned into the yuppies that gave us Reagan these guys will give a society even more committed to freedom.

        • Thank you, Kip. I was being flip in that post but you just described my 20something daughter. (and I am so proud of her; end back-slapping)

She said something a couple years ago at our weekly lunch (we talk freely when it's just the two of us. First time I ever heard her drop the f-bomb)

"I'm worried, scared, we bought a home, I want to have a family, we bust our ass, and these people... who am I supposed to be pissed off at?"

My answer was, "all of them."

  • "Bill Koch is supporting and fund raising for Trump."

That's good to hear, and I would also like to see Ryan booted.

  • Trump can, with him Hillary loses and the way can be paved for better, more traditional conservatives to come aboard.

So, I see your delusions prevent you from seeing the latest polls. Hitlery has a 7 point lead on Trump.

  • Koch came out and said it was "blood libel" to claim he will support Clinton.

The establishment Romney, McCain, Bush (both), Graham etc all skipped the convention and are not traditional conservatives. I never thought Cruz or anyone else could beat Clinton because of the cross over vote and too many ties to the corrupt system as it exists. Trump can, with him Hillary loses and the way can be paved for better, more traditional conservatives to come aboard. Those not beholden to the past. And the Supreme Court is secure.

Edit - I meant this to reply to sifi, oops.

  • I know the feeling. I'm not sure about Trump either, but I know what Hitlery will do. The coming 3 or more Supreme Court appointments, alone, are enough to make me vote Trump, just to keep Hitlery out. The Koch brothers seem more willing to support Hitlary than Trump. That makes me think Trump must not be status quo, as far as the establishment goes.
