They get paid to be on your TV package, like it or not, & it's bundled with the rest of the Time Warner programming.
I have the bare assed minimum I can get on satellite and CNN is on it. I have to pay for something I never watch, there is no way to take it off my programming, so people can't tell me the frigging gooberment is not supporting that POS news outlet.
Commercials, because they are guaranteed to be seen in airports and VA Hospitals and Clinics.
Another good reason not to have cable, which I don't.
Don't forget truck stops, there are a ton of them across the country.

The fact that #3 and #5 have so many viewers is truly disturbing to me.
