  • I'm not buying it. The NYT constantly cites "unnamed sources." I think they decided to up their game. I bet someone at the NYT wrote this. Time will tell. You can bet there's a rat hunt on at the White House.

    • I would not be surprised at all to find out the whole thing is fiction. The NYT probably thought to themselves "Hey, if Dems can get away with obstructing the country for over a year with some hair brained conspiracy theory we can get away with a fake op ed.

    • According to the rules they just decided to ignore, you can cite unnamed sources in a news article if you have otherwise verified the information yourself. But you are NOT supposed to allowed unnamed OPINION writers to air their beefs anonymously.

      • It’s called yellow journalism. Used to be derided as the bilge of the journalism profession. Now it’s en Vogue.

        • I'm pretty sure the NYSlimes has an official policy of not printing letters to the editor which are unsigned or anonymous. Yet they just put an anonymous Op-Ed on the front page. They will never get their credibility, what was left of it, back.

  • What a coward. Personally, I think the NYSlimes has jumped the shark on this one. This is getting a bad review even from other liberal media sources. Journalistic ethics, or what are supposed to be journalistic ethics, preclude giving people anonymous platforms to level unverifiable accusations--unless they are somebody like a North Korean official who will be shot if their identity is discovered. This is worse than a supermarket tabloid and the NYSlimes will never be able to live this down. And this person's identity WILL be revealed sooner or later and when it turns out they are a low-level nobody with no knowledge whatsoever about what happens in the Oval Office or what happens at cabinet meetings--which I am sure will end up being the case--the NYSlimes will be a laughingstock.

  • Guys first we are an elected republic not a democracy. As for the deep state, is anyone truly surprised. It's time to just bring in a polygraph examiners (not from the FBI), line everyone up and start giving out exams. No one leaves, all electronic devices are seized and examined. Once your polygraph is complete, you are escorted out of the WH, sent home until all the exams are completed. Then your electronic devices are returned.

    • You're point about our being a representative republic is spot on! I usually use the language about "democracy" because the left has taken to framing everything they don't like as a "threat to democracy", so when it is used in stories like this I am hoping it undermines their position and highlights their hypocrisy.
