• You're all gonna hate me but I hate it when Trump calls her Pocahontas. Most people are only familiar with the cartoon story, they don't realize what an extraordinary woman Pocahontas was. If the Church of England had not already split from the Catholic Church, I have no doubt Pocahontas would have been named a saint. She was held in such high esteem by both English and Indian, even when the two sides were in the middle of waging war, that grown men would practically genuflect in this young girl's presence. She apparently had a presence about her that almost glowed. Peace was finally attained between whites and Indians after decades of war when the English took her hostage, apologizing the whole time they were doing it, explaining to her in abject sorrow why they were doing it (she agreed by the way that it was a good idea and cooperated in the matter), and then, while a hostage, she fell in love with and married a young Englishman. The chief of the Indians could hardly wage war on his son-in-law's people, could he? So that was that, the war ended and the English presence in the New World was established.

  In other words, calling Elizabeth Warren Pocahontas is way too good for her. It's like calling her Joan of Arc or Mother Theresa.

  • It always annoys me when he does that. He needs to get it right, and call her Fauxcahontas, or Lieawatha, or stupid bitch.

    I actually saw the Disney movie last year and the Christian Bale movie (he plays the Son in Law) several years ago, and was acquainted at the time with her real story, that both movies take great liberties with.

    I think it is meant to state that well Pocahontas was real and Warren is not, but it doesn't really have the meaning in the end I think that they hope it would have. I would prefer they used Fauxcahontas because we get the point there.

        C.S. Lewis is the Patron of the Imagination his feast day (commemorating his death) is in late November.

        Anglicans share St. Nicholas Bishop of Myra for example with the Catholics. Secular people know him as Santa Claus...

        Those are my two favorites and I try to commemorate the days in my own personal way.

        A lot of them are martyrs all around the world, Bishops (and others in Church occupations) as well as lay people, I think some Monarchs and then there are official/unofficial ones like MLK Jr. and Bonhoeffer.

        I am certain there is space for Pocahontas.
