Please explain to me, who thought it would be a good idea include Adolph Hitler's Daughter in a picture for D-Day? Why the hell is a German in the picture, they caused the war in Europe and yet there sits that fat pig in the photo...

Doesn't make sense, does it? Germany was certainly not one of the "Allies."
One of those awkward elephant in the room situations.

LOL. When my Dad's credit card number was stolen years ago, there were suddenly numerous charges in France. When he called the credit card company to tell them the charges were not by him, they asked him if he had ever been to France. "Well, just once," he replied.

I'll tell him but Dad wasn't in the first wave that got so decimated. The 83rd Division was slated to land a couple days later, not sure what date, but got caught in horrible storms and couldn't land until June 17th. Those WWII landing craft couldn't really function safely in big waves so they had to wait. As it was quite a few guys were lost when the landing craft swamped or flipped over. You can imagine what it's like to be a fully loaded infantrymen suddenly thrown into the ocean. Yikes.
Even on the 17th the beachhead at Normandy was still being hotly contested. The Germans pretty much controlled the airspace. One of Dad's first memories of war is, while waiting for the LCT that was supposed to take him ashore, watching a 2 1/2 ton amphibious truck hit a mine and send a geyser of water 100 feet into the air, at the peak of which he could see the steering wheel of the truck. He never saw the driver.
