New cardinal: Abuse victims should be ‘ashamed’ to speak due to their own failings

• You're all missing the real point! It's not pedophilia that's at the heart of this issue, it's homosexual (same sex) attraction and behavior, both in the preisthood and the laity. A homosexual has no business entering into the preisthood, period! Unfortunately, many laity, especially those Catholics of the progressive persuasion, have allowed this invasion of "the soul snatchers" to inculcate our lazy laity with pablum instead of sound doctrine. The "pedophile" angle is relatively recent and entirely political in origin and has way more to do with the highly motivated and greatly funded LGBTQIARSTUVWXYZ movement along with young "catholic" men, ages fifteen to eighteen being called children, who come on to older homosexual preists and play their little homo games with them in the dark recesses of the sacristy. Later on in life, these once "children" now adult homo perverts, know they can easily sue "The Church" for vast sums of money in this letigious age and get away with it. The guilty bishops band together and defraud their flocks of billions of dollars to pay for their justifiably high legal fees. I, for one, no longer tythe to my extremely liberal parish, but instead give generously to catholic groups and organizations I know for a fact are faithful to the teachings of the Church. And in closing, there is no excuse for the sexual exploitation of actual children...I think those guilty of this heinous criminal act should face the death penalty...just sayin'.

  • You're right. This is a homosexual issue more than a pedophile issue. Among the hundreds of victims in the Pennsylvania report, there were very few little girls. It's almost entirely little boys and teenage boys, the latter often preyed upon on in the seminaries. From what I've read in online forums which never get any attention from the mainstream media, heterosexual men are driven out of the priesthood at the seminary stage, where they either get driven out by repeated sexual advances from the perverts who run the seminaries (this was McCarrick's great crime, his favorite hunting ground) or they get driven out by the marginalization and mockery from the homosexuals who vastly outnumber them.

• Y'all know my feelings about organized religions which is why I have stayed away from this thread. But today a cardinal has bashed on the Pope, demanding he and other church officials resign because of all the sexual abuse coverups. I still don't think much of organized religions but maybe there is a little hope for you Catholics anyway.

  • That is why parents should raise their children to never, ever be afraid to talk to them about anything. If anyone had tried to mess with one of our children when they were young they would have told us about it. Then the son of a bitch would have found out what the real wrath of God was all about because I would have made sure they understood the law was their salvation, they would get to live if they were in jail.

    • I used to joke that if anybody ever kidnapped one of my daughters, they'd bring them back within an hour. "Please, I'm sorry, just take this girl back!" I raised my daughters tough, which I guess is a side effect of being a single father (most of the time). I remember going to Tahquamanon Falls in the Upper Peninsula when they were little girls, rowing across to the island at the state park, and right where there was an official sign that said, "Stay out of the water!" we took our shoes off and entered upon the challenge of walking all the way around that island without ever treading upon dry land. Lots of waterfalls and rapids. Where the biggest waterfall was, we had to climb a cliff and work our way along the cliff till we could get back in the water at the top of the waterfall. There was a railing at the top of the cliff and there happened to be a group of Japanese tourists standing there with cameras when my youngest daughter, climbing first, came into sight at their feet. They got excited at the marvel of a 5-year-old climbing a cliff next to a waterfall and started jabbering in Japanese. I don't understand Japanese a lick but I'm pretty sure one or two of them said, "No wonder we lost the war!"

• This actually doesn't surprise me, & it only hardens my feeling that I did the right thing by never going further in the catholic church after I was baptized.

    • Why should we? The Catholic Church isn't going to be saved by it's preists and bishops; it's going to be saved by it's laity standing up and demanding they act according to church cannonical law and if they don't then we demand their defroking and dismissal from the preisthood, never to preach anywhere, anytime before laity, again. The Church isn't its property and holdings, it's its faithful, (all its faithful, laity and preisthood). Whenever a member acts in an unchristian manner, they in effect, excommunicate themselves! Depending on the severity of their sinful (criminal) behavior is the use of confession or the necessity of actual excommunication sought. You don't have to throw the baby out with the bath water! I heartily agree with Archbishop's Vigano, however, former Papal Nuncio for the United States, who recommends that numerous prelates, including Pope Francis himself, resign! I'm not leaving my Christian faith because a bunch of same sex actracted men and women have managed to weasle themselves into the heirarchy of the church. Knowledge of one's faith is incumbent upon the individual member, not the collective hive, or the "church", or some other entity. Remember, Christianity is easy to say, but very difficult to do!

        • I'm afraid you're right. Too many nominal catholics have fallen to the siren songs of progressivism! Just know, that the Church will become smaller but more unified as the non-chrisrian riff-raff slough away.

        • That's not what has been happening in the Episcopalian church. As the church shrunk, the riff-raff became a larger and larger percentage of the congregations until now, the progressives run the whole denomination.

• It is becoming increasingly difficult to regard the Roman Catholic church as anything more than an organized pedophile ring.

  • They have a great scam going on real estate when you consider they are a tax exempt organization. They hold some prime property locations in many of the biggest cities. Plus they make money on organizing all sorts of migrants who adhere to their teachings, but have nothing & will vote for Dems for freebies. Kinda pisses me off when I think about it.

    • Did you ever read the story about the convent in LA the church is stealing from the poor old nuns who live there? The nuns raised their own money and bought their land and convent years ago, but the land is suddenly worth millions so the LA archdiocese stepped in and claimed it, even though it was entirely the property of the nuns. The case was still dragging its way through the courts last I heard but the nuns are so old the church will eventually win simply because the nuns are all dead. It is the most un-Christian story imaginable, a thoroughly greedy land grab by the Catholic church.

• Good grief. I am losing all hope for the Catholic Church. He's basically threatening pedophilia victims. More than a decade ago I read a series of articles about how homosexuals have taken over the Catholic Church and this kind of attitude is the result. For the Catholic priesthood, it's about circling the wagons, defending their lucrative positions, and attacking the child victims.   • Your point about losing hope is interesting. Considering how many people I know or meet who have a spiritual belief, but want nothing at all to do with organized religion.
