NYTimes publishes Donald Trump tax return. As expected, it’s embarrassing as hell with almost a billion-dollar negative adjusted gross income, which may have allowed him to avoid income taxes for the ensuing eighteen years.

So what? Doing whatever he can LEGALLY to avoid paying more taxes that he has to order to support his interests, whereas he still has paid hundreds of millions of dollars in state, sale, housing, and other taxes during the production of his work AND for personal expenses. I can't believe people who claim to be conservative or libertarian wants people to pay more taxes... :-/
LOL The point is he had a billion dollar to loose who here has a billion dollars to loose? Business takes risks, they don't pay off all the time, but he recovered, like so many other business people who have lost and recuperated.
Shhhh, you're making too much sense and the #NT here hate that!
Plus this was another rope-a-dope from Trump himself...
In 1995 from the NYT...." Though there are still four years to go in the 90's, business and government leaders in New York honored Donald J. Trump yesterday for pulling off what they called "the comeback of the decade." (Snip)

We all know how much some here hate hate hate that I, or anyone, would have the audacity to give Trump any credit so instead I'll just point out how they have been played....again.
How in the world has anybody been played? You foolish, brain-washed partisan, this is simply proof of what anybody with a lick of sense and the ability to read has known all along: Donald Trump is just about the worst businessman who ever lived. To have an adjusted net income on your 1040 of almost a negative billion dollars is world record embarrassing. If that's what he was reporting personally, can you imagine what his various corporations were reporting? And you know what's worse? What happens to other people when Donald's businesses fail. He always structures things so that other people take the main hits. For example, the workers at his bankrupt casinos lost their health insurance and their retirements. He is the worst possible fiduciary manager of other people's money, often enriching himself at the expense of his investors and employees. He's doing that right now with his presidential campaign, using the public donations of supporters to enrich himself. Which is why, in case this point isn't penetrating, he is the worst possible choice to be president.
Not defending trump, but look at what Hitler's did...
There goes the whole "I'm an awesome businessman so I know what I am doing." Argument. Wait, who am I kidding. I'm sure we'll be told how losing nearly a billion dollars makes you a really smart businessman.
And forget about bragging about his charitable giving. That was another lie.
So where did they get this? Is Obama's IRS releasing information illegally again?
I suppose the NYT pays their taxes every year based upon their gross income and never takes deductions. Yeah right.
From the latest, they NYSlimes did not pay taxes last year. But they support liberals so it's OK.
I understand the anger there. I think what the Times has done is sneaky, "deplorable, illegal and they should be held to account and there should be an investigation to find out if Obama/Clinton/IRS were complicit in this. However that does not diminish the fact that a guy whose whole qualification is what an awesome business man he is lost nearly a billion dollars.
Try to keep up. It's not about whether Trump paid taxes. It's about Trump being so damn stupid he lost a billion dollars in one year.
According to Trump, they acquired it illegally:

According to the Times, an unknown someone mailed the documents to a Times reporter... so yeah, your guess about the IRS being responsible is a pretty good guess.
I'd add I know a retired IRS attorney. He hates Trump as I'd assume many of them do. He not only hates him, you mention Trump and he about foams at the mouth.
I'd think after all these years have gone by and no one's prosecuted him that this is a big nothing.
It's not about prosecution and illegality. It's about what a monumentally bad businessman he is. Filing a personal tax return with a negative billion dollars in income is not just embarrassing, it's almost unbelievable. It's a joke. It puts Trump in a class all by himself. We talk about people like Zuckerberg or Gates losing or gaining a billion dollars in net worth when the stock market takes a big swing, but to actually lose that much in cash in one year? You have to be phenomenally stupid to accomplish that. I wouldn't be surprised to learn it's an all-time record.
It's not uncommon for businesses to hold large losses until they have a good year and then use it to offset income.
This is not a company. I know various corporations have lost more than this in a year, especially after bookkeeping "write-downs." Think 2008 and all the mortgage write-downs--LOTS of companies lost more than a billion. This is an individual person. And it wasn't a particularly bad time to be in business, unlike 2008. It's gotta be a record. But unfortunately I doubt the IRS will ever answer the question of whether it's a record.
