Obama Orders Fed Agencies to Stop Asking Job Applicants about Criminal History

• Unbelievable, like their isn't enough crooks in the government.

• I thought a criminal history was a prerequisite for a government job under this administration.

• When I started working for the federal government, they sent a private investigator to interview me. That's what they do for every new employee. Everybody who works there considers the process a joke. With me, the dufus P.I. was completely discombobulated by my marital history, so discombobulated that he came back for a second interview. Trouble is, by then I already knew more than 90% of the people in similar positions and they'd sent me 80 miles away to train someone who'd been working there for about thirty years and still couldn't figure things out. (Trust me, half the people working for the federal government are morons. They stick around because they could never do half as well in the private sector.) Instead of waiting for me to be back in town, this dufus drives the 80 miles to spend fifteen minutes asking me some of the same questions he'd already asked me. Which were all about my marital history. "Look," I finally said, "I don't even want to know your reasoning for driving this far when I'll be back in town in two days, but whether or not you can understand my family history is, I suspect, largely irrelevant to the woman who hired me, so why don't you fuck off?" When I told my boss what I'd said, she thought it was the greatest thing she'd ever heard.

  So I guess marital history is critical, but if I'd been a drug dealing rapist murderer, Obama considers that irrelevant.

• We need to integrate people that have committed crimes back into the community, but at what risk in what jobs?

  Why are people surprised? Progressives are all about the 'now'. The past (or more specifically the lack of hard work and investment) should not impede your ability to have things now. The future? Forget-about-it, spend now and when we get to the future, we'll just forget and forgive the current now's sins....
