Someone said that as patriots we shouldn't allow this to happen if they were serious, and they are not... and that TX have made this racket before and nothing happens. I agree that this is just talk. However I have to say that California is like whatever to me. Don't give a crap so bye!
Texas is no where near as right wing as Kalifornia is left. You also have to understand that according to the US census, 1 in 3 California residents were not born in the US and that's from the 2000 census. From personal observation given the influx of Mexicans and Chinese I'd guess that it's rapidly approaching 40 percent. I also have no doubt that it would join up with Mexico ASAP if given half a chance.
The "secede" movement has been around in Texas for as long as I can remember. I don't think anyone is really serious about making it happen; it's more of a frustration coping mechanism or a way to say 'fuck you' to Washington! The Texas constitution does have a provision to secede.
The difference is that while the folks in kali will do nothing but protest, the people of Texas go to work and fix what has us pissed off. The old throw a tantrum or fix the problem analogy.
The 'Secede' bumper stickers are everywhere though!
If it DOES come up for a vote, I'll vote in favor of it. If it DOES actually happen, I'll be close to the front of the long line at the Arizona border, heading east.
