Panera Bread tries socialism. Fails. They opened five experimental restaurants where food was offered at a “suggested donation” price. The restaurants did not do well. They especially did not do well in liberal Portland, Oregon, where the restaurant was full of homeless people and students who didn’t pay anything, let alone the “suggested donation.” Gosh, who could’ve seen that happening?

It’s a stretch to call anything on the Panera menu food IMO. I did enjoy the tap water in the restroom. I used it to rinse the taste of my lunch out of my mouth. This was in San Francisco of all places, pre ‘restroom to the junkies’ era. I’d imagine that same restroom might be a tad different today.

Proves yet again, when spending someone else's money, it is all good. Having to spend you own and paying for others. NO WAY.
Must not have been 'real' socialism, where someone with a gun would have been forcing the more prosperous-looking patrons to contribute their 'fair' share.
