Rome turns to ICE: Italian capital comes to a standstill after it was battered by torrential rain and giant hailstones. Not political but we were amazed by this hail and decided to post it. We’ve never seen anything like this.

CO2Insanity: Tired of the CO2 BS and all the other BS in the US and the world.

  • Man, those look like they would hurt when they hit you. I was moving my sailboat once and got caught in a hailstorm on Lake Michigan. I didn't have any sort of autopilot so I had to stand at the wheel and steer, especially since we were heading through a channel into Frankfort, Mich. at the time. When the hail started falling I tried to cover my head but I was hopping around, swearing and cursing, saying "Ow! ow! ow!" Ain't no way to dodge the damn things. It's not like you dare look up. Then all of a sudden I heard laughing and I looked forward: there safely dry and protected in the cabin at the bottom of the companionway were my two sailing buddies, each with a beer in their hands, laughing their asses off at my pain and discomfort. And THAT, my friends, is why sailors invented walking the plank.

      • Yes, the Betsie River comes out at Frankfort. You should hear the rest of that story. We entertained the whole town with our stupidity. They actually came out with lawn chairs and had picnics while they watched us wrestle with my spinnaker. And later, after we finally made it into the marina and walked into town, we didn't need wallets. Everybody wanted to buy us drinks because our stupidity was so extraordinary we made everybody else feel like a genius.
