So now that Muslim ban was only a “suggestion.” There is very little left of his various promises and pledges that he hasn’t backed away from since he clinched in Indiana. If you’re still a Trump supporter… why?

    • And you think a guy who's declared bankruptcy four times and had to be rescued from bankruptcy by George Soros and Saudis a few more times is going to rein in spending? Hilarious.

      Here's where you innate delusion has lead you astray again: you mention the vote in the Senate without mentioning what actually happened in that vote, namely that the guy you loved to call "Lyin' Ted" was once again the only person trying to stop that overspending bill from passing. As usual. And where was Donald Trump when the Senate was voting for that massive spending bill? Did he do anything, say anything, exert any of his influence as the presumptive nominee?

      Shoot, did Donald even know it was happening?

      • Trump doesn't know anything about politics other than "I have millions more votes and hundreds more delegates.". Which doesn't translate to anything more than a popcorn fart in the general election, unless all the Demotards that changed their registration so they could vote to screw up our nomination process, happen to have head injuries before the general, and actually vote for him.

  • I really don't see why anyone gets their panties all wadded up over a presidential candidate. Granted, I was hoping Trump would do better than your typical politician, but this really is not surprising. All candidates pander to their base during the primaries, and then try to appear to be center-of-road once they're pretty much a shoe-in for the nomination. We saw it with McCain. We saw it with Mitt Romney. We're seeing it with Trump. Not really surprising. Just disappointing.

    • People always forget, a candidate has to get elected before he/she can do what is right. Shillery is depending on the woman vote and the fact that she is a Clintoon. Trump got his message across early and now is moving toward the middle to appeal to a wider range of voters. The key is to get elected. That doesn't mean Trump will abandon his stance on illegal immigration or bad trade deals, but he does understand he has to get elected first.

  • There is some precedent to keeping NON CITIZENS away from the country even if they are here already to get them out. I saw the series "Adams" recently and came to find out about the Alien and Sedition acts and how later how they were changed by Jefferson and then changed and ratified for Roosevelt's use during WWII. The problem that I have is having NATIONAL or NATURALIZED citizens be thus treated, but I have no problems with Non-citizens not being allowed in or being booted out since we are at war with Islamic elements that wish to do us harm.

    Citizens (born or naturalized) are off the table. If they do commit an act of treason they need to be found out and punished accordingly as citizens, but if not a citizens and even if they have some legal documentation and they belong to a group that is in active warfare with the US we actually have laws in place for that.

    • I believe it. As a rule conservatives are not so easily led, or eager to mislead, as those with TDS have become.

      What about - "Trump stood by his proposal (snip from the link)..." is so difficult to understand?

      • In December Trump issued a press release "calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States."

        Now he says, "We have a serious problem, and it's a temporary ban--it hasn't been called for yet, nobody's done it, this is just a suggestion until we find out what's going on."

        Do you seriously--seriously--not consider that a change of position?

        More and more, supporting Trump looks less like a reasoned political decision and more like a cult thing.

          • How does the complete sentence change the fact that he's backing down? Show me where in that press release he says "this is just a suggestion." "This is just a suggestion" is backing away phraseology and you know it, as in "something should be done and this is just one possibility." The December press release said, "Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on." It didn't say "It hasn’t been called for yet, nobody's done it yet, but Donald J. Trump is just making a suggestion that we temporarily stop Muslims from entering the United States."

        • Read your own post . It's his suggestion until we find out whats going on. You come up with a better one? Has anyone? What about plain english is giving you so much trouble?

          I have my own suggestion. TH, NR, Krystol, you, #boneheads etc all need to try to live in the present and stop projecting. Lies are of no use to you now, most the voters didnt fall for them in the first place.

            This isn't about whether stopping Muslim immigration is a good idea, don't even try that misdirection. I think it's a great idea. Everybody with an inkling of common sense thinks it's a great idea. THIS is about Donald Trump not really meaning it when he said it in December, and now that he has the nomination sewn up demoting the notion to "just a suggestion." Which I think we all know is his way of letting his ignorant dumbass supporters down easy because he has zero intention of ever following through. The man was saved from bankruptcy twice by the Saudis--he is never going to be a warrior against Islam.

    • I'm sorry, but I think you've lost your moral right to participate in these discussions. Four days ago I asked you a specific question. You said your support for Trump boiled down to his position on immigration, especially banning Muslims ("His stopping illegal immigration, building a wall and stopping unfettered muslim immigration is a 10."), and I asked you what you were going to do when he backed off on that, too. AND I asked you to answer quickly because he's changing his positions so fast. Well, you didn't answer. So here we are, just like I said: the ban on Muslims is already downgraded to a mere suggestion and I'm guessing the wall is next. What exactly does that leave you to justify your hero worship?

        As a private citizen, which Trump is, he can do no more than suggest. IIRC, he said "Donald Trump is calling on a complete temporary ban on muslims entering the country until we can figure out what is happening."
