In NJ, if you work in a unionized business, but you don't join the union, you still have to pay 85% of the dues, but you get none of the union protection.

It's not a complete victory for the unions, since the tie vote means the Ninth Circuit decision in favor of the union stands, but is not precedent for the rest of the country.
And it's allowing state law to prevail, so if you change the law like Wisconsin did, the public employee unions can be made to go suck eggs.
