That’s one way to secure a victory: Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro bans leading opposition parties from running in next year’s presidential election. You can damn well bet the Democrats are jealous over this. We’d bet it’s at the top of their want list. We’re also wondering why Jerry Brown isn’t dressing like this yet?

This will certainly make it easier for the illiterate Vene populace to vote.
I remember seeing campaign ads when I lived there. The candidates were represented by a color. Ballots had the candidate's name and a colored block. Those who couldn't read just had to remember the color and put an X in the colored block.
The way things are going in the US they'll need that here before too much longer.
Well, we do have bilingual ballots. They make it easy for us here in Texas, with the single selection party vote. The voting machines post a question, "do you have your head up your ass?" If you answer 'no' the machine scrolls to the next page which allows you to strike one vote for the straight Republican ticket vote. A 'yes' automatically scrolls to, "¿Deseas continuar en español?"
Given the dire economic situation in Venezuela, it is the height of optimism to use the term "next year".
