Funny part is that they just think they want the EC to go away. Truth is that many folks in deep red areas don't vote because they know it's irrelevant to the outcome. If our country went to a popular vote for POTUS, I think conservative voters would come out of the woodwork and the Ds would lose by landslide. Remember the republican numbers in the primaries of 2016? Huge compared to the D turnout.
I believe that all the democrat voters that vote, actually did in the past election. Not so much for republican side.
It would change campaign strategies for both parties. More so for the democrats than the repubs. The dems would actually have to campaign on the east and west coasts instead of just conducting fund raisers there!
They would also have to rally their most dedicated voting base, the dead.
