    Apparently she was forced to file charges because Trump and Lewandowski have been calling her a liar, and Trump supporters have been viciously attacking her credibility and saying, "If she's telling the truth, why doesn't she file charges?" So she did. Basically she called Trump's bluff because of his insults.

    As the columnist points out, this never needed to be a big deal--she worked for the most pro-Trump venue on the planet. All they needed to do is call her up, apologize, and give her a five minute interview.

  • Everybody knows I can't stand Trump. And I've heard some nasty things about Trump's campaign manager--he sounds to me like a felony waiting to happen. But all that being said, this seems like an overreaction. Lewandowski has issues, because why would he take on the physical duties of security guard when there is a security guard RIGHT THERE in perfect position to stop this female reporter from asking His Highness any questions? But battery charges? Ridiculous. It's an emotional presidential campaign, reporters are getting pushy, campaign managers are working very hard and getting too little sleep... this woman needs to put her big girl panties on before she ruins her own reputation. Nobody is ever going to respect a journalist who gets hysterical about a push.

  • So Lyin' Donald and Lyin' Lewandowski got caught. Pretty despicable that not only does Lyin' Donald attack Cruz's wife, he's willing to destroy the reputation of female reporters.

    The Trump campaign now resembles a douche convention.

  • Does anyone out there remember the name MIKE NIFONG? Keep ole Mike in mind as this progresses through the courts of one of the few Democrat controlled counties in Fla.

    Reporters have a true tendency to push themselves upon you until you are about to get #$%^ed off at them. That way they can make you the story instead of the one that they were supposed to be reporting. The best thing to do when seeing a reporter that you don't like. Ignore them at first, then I have no comment finally, encourage them to contact the PIO for any comments or questions you may have. Enjoy your day as you walk away from them.

  • OK per this she was supposedly warned twice by the Secret Service agents not get between them and Trump and did it anyway, then she touched Trump a couple of times before Lewandowski pulled her away.

    • I just saw something else that's making me wonder if perhaps she was put up to do this to divert attention from Ted's mistresses allegations....

      • I doubt that. It seems from everything that I've seen, that there isn't much to that. If there were any chance that a case could be made, he would have been given the Herman Cain treatment.

    • I never heard her say that... Do you know where she claimed that? She felt yanked and lost her balance and felt like she was going to go down but she maintained balance and got off the yank. That is what she stated in the article about this issue.

      With that said, the video seems to skip or something because I don't see her loosing her balance per se.

  • Both people involved are not likable, & it's sad that both of them cannot be losers here. This might be defined as "simple assault" by a strict reading of the law, but really, this is making a mountain out of a molehill.

    • Flat out, it is simple assault. Battery requires her to have been actually hit, not held back from Trump.

      • Sorry, gonna go lawyer on ya. Mind you now, first of all, that many states have their own statutory definitions of what is assault and what is battery. But according to classical common law usage, assault is the threat, battery is the contact. It is possible to have one without the other. I can poke you in the back before you see me, that would be battery without assault. Or I can stand in front of you with my fist clenched and yell "I'm gonna bust your jaw, you big jerk!", but if I don't actually do it, that is assault without battery. However, for an assault complaint to stand, it has to be believable, and the victim must actually feel threatened, he must believe there is an imminent danger to his person. If a stoned out hippie (maybe 5 feet tall and 90 pounds of him) sitting on the sidewalk looks up and says "I'm gonna clobber you, man!" that would likely not be considered an assault. Also, the threat cannot be conditional: a 7 foot tall bruiser shakes his fist at you and says, "If I ever see you near my girl again I'll pound you into the road!" No assault. On the other hand, battery doesn't have to be a violent action. Any uninvited physical contact is a battery -- poking you in the chest with my finger is a battery, I don't have to actually batter you. So yes, just holding her back from Trump could be a battery.

        So like I say, those are the classical legal usages, but many jurisdictions have passed statutory definitions which vary from these.
