I haven't been to Ballarat, CA for about 20 years.
Oh, have I got some stories from Ballarat, from when I was a kid. Used to spend a lot of time out there.

Last time I was there we started in Death Valley, went over Goler to Barker Ranch, which was still standing then (was burned down). Was a creepy place. Everyone wondered how many bodies were still buried around there.
I went to the ranch a number of times, with a kid my age who lived with his family in Ballarat, ran the general store, lived in the various false front building there.
Tommy is the one that found the infamous Ballarat Truck, an old Dodge Power Wagon, out on the salt flats, out of gas, got it running, tracked down the owners, and contacted them.
Turns out the truck was stolen in Long Beach, possibly by Charlie himself, and ran out of gas out on the lake bed on his way to the ranch. Probably looking for a short cut to avoid going through Ballarat.
The owners of the truck didn't want to come and get it, so they sent the papers to Tommy, and gave him the truck. Tommy and I drove that thing all over the desert, even up to Barker Ranch. We never had the "pleasure" of showing up when Charlie was around. This was right around the time of the Tate-LaBianca murders. Imagine the shock of seeing "the hippies" from Barker Ranch on TV when they were arrested.

Now Jerry Brown wants to raise the gas tax to pay for their overpriced and underfunded (by about 3/4 tillion dollars).
There's another putz Democrat in LA who wants to raise the sewer and water rates as a way to avoid the Prop 13 3rd rail.
They have a supermajority. It will be tax tax tax tax tax. Any money they supposedly get for infrastructure will be miraculously diverted to the general fund so they can give it to illegal aliens, fighting Trump and Jerry's choo-choo for rapid farmworker transit between Bakersfield and Fresno.
Meanwhile Jerry's begging trump for money. Trump should tell him to suck something.
Like I said before, When the democraps get done destroying Kalifornia, the only thing left will be a bunch of taco trucks, and liquor stores and cell phone stores.
A spokesman for jerry brown said that many companies are moving in and then he mentions Sutter health which is already here and just adding a few jobs..
You talk to people, and the average joe has two or three part time jobs because there are not a lot of full time jobs, unless right now your a truck driver and can haul rocks to repair the Brown Family Dam, in Hororville.

The California "votantes" recently made the nation leading temporary 13.3 percent state income tax on the highest brackets permanent. That's 2.3 percent higher than Hawaii and 3 percent higher than Oregon which has no sales tax. The good news is there's lots of silicon valley millionaires who are about to become Republicans.
