• Yeah I can't tell what the hell was going on there, but it looks like he was some sort of troublemaker whom the others were expecting.

  • That was my first thought, but supposedly he was asked to be there and speak by the guy actually retiring. Whatever it is, the back story has to be interesting. There is some other level going on that we aren't seeing.

• I didn't hear the veteran say anything about God so what do we know? Something didn't hit right with the other military guys, all I heard was something about this being one nation.

  I'd like to know more, because that seems bat-crap-crazy. Physically removing someone like that? Ever see someone do that to a BLM twit when interrupts someone like Milo or Shapiro speak- yep, never.

    • This guy gave that same speech at several other retirement ceremonies, so I'm sure they were just waiting to toss him.

• Having just done my own retirement ceremony: it's not up to the CO. It's up to the retiring member what is done at their ceremony. The retiree wanted this guy and God mentioned. If I were the retiree, I'd slap a HUGE F-ing grievance on this CO. I mean massive. The CO was way out of line.

• Those are not MPs, those are just guys, so this is not any kind of "enforcement action," it is an assault, and to whatever extent the assault was ordered by a superior officer, it is a court martial offense for that superior officer. I think someone is in big trouble.

    The MP's there can be pricks. I was up there years ago in the office at the front gate getting a pass.

    There was an Evergreen Airlines (Successor to Air America) plane on the tarmac.

    I said to the guard giving me the pass "I see the CIA is here today." Fucker about went to Devcon 1. I ended up talking to some officer (forget his rank). He's like "How did you know the CIA was here?" Me: There's an Evergreen Airline plane on the tarmac, they're CIA." Him: That's not general knowlege" Me: My 5 year old knows Evergreen is CIA as does about everyone on the planet." He was pissed but that was the end of the conversation and I finally got my pass.

    I used to go to Mare Island (nuclear subs), NAS Alameda (nuclear carriers), Hamilton AFB (yes I'm that old) the Presidio (you used to have to get a pass to drive around) and I've even been in Onizuka AFB (they ran spy satellites, space shuttle) and never got hassled. I used to love visiting Admirals/Generals because I never had to go into the pass office the guard at the gate had one. Saved about 20-30 minutes in line if it was a busy day. I got into Alameda one time and there was no pass at the gate. I told the guard I was going to see Admiral such and such and he about saluted and wrote me one on the spot. I got in without one once. I was taking a drunk sailor friend back to the base as he had duty at about 6AM. I didn't want to be hassled so when I drove through I opened my wallet and flashed it like I had military ID and the dumbass waived me through.

  • Doesn't matter if the C.O. had anything to do with the assault or not, a commanding officer is responsible for his troops actions at all times. if he was there and did not stop this nonsense he could be in deep shit if the retiree wants to press the matter.

    • It was actually the Chief Master Sergeant that was directing them to toss him. When I saw it, I almost threw a knife at the TV.
