Despite aversion to pots of gold Fed flies a rainbow flag

We here at IHateTheMedia.com try to live by a philosophy best captured in ancient and time honored rhyme:

If you want to get funky, please feel free
Just don’t spread that funk on me

rainbow-flag-fed
The Fed is inclusive: They're going to destroy all of us

The Federal Reserve of Virginia has decided to let its freaky flag fly just a bit higher than we fly ours. It’s a decision that has caused a bit of a flap.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch runs it up the flagpole for us:

The Richmond Federal Reserve Bank’s attempt to show inclusiveness in the workplace by flying the rainbow flag outside its building has reignited a divisive gay-rights debate.

Del. Robert G. Marshall, R-Prince William, is calling on the bank to remove the flag, terming its presence “a serious deficiency of judgment by your organization, one not limited to social issues.”

Far be it from us to tell this supposedly non-governmental agency how to conduct its affairs. Not even if it does exercise a large amount of control over our economy and, therefore, our lives. But if the Fed must fly a flag might we suggest the white one? Especially when it comes to any number of their inflation inducing policies.

PS – We would like to clarify our reason for suggesting the Fed fly a white flag. It is not, as some trolls might have you believe, because we are racist. It is because this flag has traditionally been associated with surrender. Were we more cultured and euro-centric we might have suggested the drapeau tricolore instead. Thankfully we are not.

  • Just remember, that at the end of this rainbow what you see is not a pot of gold, it's a bucket of shit!

  • Come on now...the real reason they fly that flag is because they have been making the citizens of the US take it up the ass.

    • An astute analogy CO2. The United States Flag Code establishes advisory rules for display and care of the flag of the United States. It is Chapter 1 of Title 4 of the United States Code (4 U.S.C. § 1 et seq). This is a U.S. federal law, but there is no penalty for failure to comply with it and it is not widely enforced — indeed, the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that punitive enforcement would conflict with the First Amendment right to freedom of speech.

PS I am highly offended none the less!

  • This has nothing to do with gay rights. I have no problem with what two consenting adults do in their bedrooms. Get married, sure. Serve in the armed forces, go for it. Yet, why does an government institution have to go out of its way to communicate that it is "gay friendly"? Is it going to fly flags for minority groups too? How about women? Or the last bastion of workplace derision: obese persons flag???
Our world has been taken over by political correctness run wild. I thought the American flag was enough to signal they support all Americans?

    • "I thought the American flag was enough to signal they support all Americans?"

      Exactly....

    • "I thought the American flag was enough to signal they support all Americans?"

      Brilliantly put.

    • Inclusiveness is the enemy. What happens is a group is demonized, ostracized, vilified. Then they must make the playing field even for everyone, except you. Then it doesn't matter if you still perform better, they will just apply more handicaps to the other groups. Even if you are a minority in the end, you will still be treated like the slave-owning, wife-beating, slur-speaking, plantation-owning, redneck you supposedly were in 1792.

I get these comments all the time, and I'm a Jew. Get used to it! I've been called a slave-owner by more then one person. Hilariously enough, Jews enslaved longer then any other race/ethnicity ever?

      Sidenote
Not to start a debate here, but I believe we're born gay, born retarded, born white. We're not born fat. The moment I see a "fat people's rights" movement will probably be the day I roll over laughing.

  • I love rainbows and I am always saddened that once again the gay culture co-opted something that was awesome all by itself. Something that was for EVERYONE. Like the word gay in all reality was a fine word on its own and then co-opted by homosexuals. Now the most recent victim is the word TOLERANCE. Completely misrepresented and co-opted by that culture to the point that one day it will completely mean something completely different to what it originally means. Now they are going for the word acceptance.

By attempting to be all inclusive they are excluding the majority of the population.

    • Their adoption of this symbol is extremely offensive to me. There are organizations whose flags and insignia were co-opted by them.

      • I never think of gays when I see a rainbow. What I think of is finding my kids so they can check it out

        • The problem comes when your children join an organization who has featured a rainbow in its logo for well over a hundred years, and to have some organization take it over without so much as a thank you, leaving you to wonder at the irony of people asking for respect when giving none.

          • Rainbow Girls? (you've made some mention of masonic orders before).. You have my sympathies if this created a personal complication for you or your kids. Otherwise I'm no more inclined to cede such a powerful symbol anymore than I would Sun, Moon, or Sky

  • The only thing that flag does is make me want a Fruit Roll-Up. Seriously, it just looks so fruity- no word-play intended.

  • They should put a printing press in the middle of the field to clearly identify it as the Federal Reserve ensign.
