Wagner Group has left Ukraine and turned its sights on Moscow

Putin must be shitting himself, they say his plane was spotted heading for St. Petersburg.  This is like something from a Hollywood movie.  Crazed dictator wages war so unpopular with his people he can’t get volunteers to enlist and participate, so he hires mercenaries to do his dirty work.  Then the mercenaries get mad at crazed dictator, look around, and decide, “Hey, we can turn around and take Russia instead!”

    • Looks to me like they were closer to Moscow than they were to Belarus, and Putin had already fled, but they take a sharp left and head for Belarus? Weird. People are wondering if it was all pretend, just an excuse to get into Belarus where they will be able to get closer to Kiev. I looked at a map: Belarus has a little southward projection that gets very close to Kiev. And Belarus has a dictator who is close to Putin and nearly as crazy, he might be doing this to enable the Russian effort against Ukraine.

    • It sounds like the Wagner Group stopped advancing on Moscow when Putin agreed to withdraw criminal charges against the leader. But they aren't going back to Ukraine, they're supposedly headed for Belarus. So that can't be good for the Russian effort in Ukraine.

      • I wonder how Belarus feels about 25,000 mercenaries, most of them former convicts accused of war crimes around the world, headed into their country... do you lay out the welcome mat for people like that? Or lock the door and refuse to answer the doorbell?
