Dayam! I got woke up a little after four this morning by something beating on the roof of my house. Could that be rain I am hearing or is the sky falling like chicken little predicted? I had to get up and look since it's been almost 100 days since I have heard anything beating on my roof.
I checked the trusty old dog dish rain gauge on the deck and it looks like just a trace of rain so far but anything we get is a plus for us! The vast eastern plains of New Mexico are drier than a popcorn fart and the fire danger is something we all worry about. One dumbass tossing a cigarette out the window is all it would take to get a grass fire going that could devastate thousands of acres of pasture land. Pasture land that the local ranchers depend on for feed for their cattle, horses or sheep. No grass for feed means buying hay and with hay going for over $200 per ton it's either sell out or go broke.
Come on you eastern folks, send us some of that snow you are all tired of! Your fellow Americans in the great southwest could use it! Lol...what the hell, this isn't the first time we have faced dry conditions and it won't be the last. It's called Mother Nature. Sometimes she is a bitch, other times she is still a bitch. It's just part of a country mans life and always has been.
It's only a few days until our state legislators meet and decide how to screw up our lives even more. One liberal loon, a dumbocrap state rep from Albukookoo, wants to introduce a bill to raise tobacco taxes. $1.50 per pack of ciggies, appropriate taxes on cigars, smokeless tobacco and e-cigarettes.
His minions are claiming that New Mexico will get over $40 million to help those with breathing problems like cancer, COPT, emphysema, it will cure all our problems! I guess these clowns are to stupid to read a history book.
No sin tax, on booze, tobacco, luxury items, it doesn't matter, the tax has not helped anybody. Every time the gooberment has decided to raise the sin taxes, especially tobacco, so many people quit that the state does not benefit at all.
No tax program against ciggies or booze has ever helped anyone but politicians. So many quit using that particular "sin" product that the state never sees all the money they claim the tax will bring in to state coffers. Nobody gets helped, other than gooberment employees and elected officials.
One things these clowns forget, we have reservation smoke shops all across our state. And they do not have to collect the state taxes on tobacco products. I have already talked to one near my brother home and as long as bro or his wife pick up the cigars I like, or the cigs mom smokes, They can mail them to us no problem. It is illegal to mail or ship tobacco products over state lines but as long as we keep it home everything is good! $20 bucks less for my cigars? About $22 less for moms cigs? Get the postage stamps and boxes out little sister! To hell with the state taxes, all of us out here at the lake are going to get family or friends to buy them on the rez and mail them to us.

Albuquerque has a new mayor. He is saying he wants to work with the DOJ, forced on the city because criminals were getting killed by law enforcement, to help improve "community relations" with APD.
I call bullshit on this idiocy. Albuquerque is part of New Mexico. Our city in our state. We don't need some overpaid fool from Washingtoon coming here and telling us how to handle our business. If the families of criminals are tired of seeing their idiot kinfolk getting shot by the cops they should step up to the plate and raise their children the right way! Beat their ass. Ground them. Chain them up in their bedroom. Take them to school then pick them up.
Do whatever it takes to make sure their welfare raised, illegal criminal asses grow up to be productive citizens. Instead of growing up, 20, 30 even 40 years old, and being a constant leech on society.

I have to admit, I don't get the college loyalty thing over there. Closest thing we have in Texas are Aggies; seems they feel obligated to buy maroon vehicles for the rest of their lives. But that whole Redneck Riviera and neighboring area... wow, rabid college fans. My family used to hit Pensacola Beach two or three times a year. It never ceased to amaze me that the people brought their college flags/banners to the beach with them. Bama, Georgia and Miss were the most prolific. Then, you look on the balconies of 3-400$ a night hotel rooms, same thing. These knuckleheads had to drape the school flag over the balcony, classy for sure. One of the most beautiful beaches in the US and you have to look at all those flags and banners everywhere. And the accent... Dallas/Ft.Worth accent on steroids!
Yeah, I don't get the rabid college fans either. I used to live in a neighborhood where half the houses would drape giant maize 'n' blue University of Michigan flags from their roofs every football game day. Then I started talking to people and discovered I was the only graduate of the University of Michigan on the whole street. WTF? And I didn't watch the games unless the weather was crappy outside and I had nothing else to do.
Maybe my lukewarm attitude has something to do with getting in three fights during my four years of college and all three of them being with guys on the football team. They were basically a decent bunch of guys but they tended to walk around campus with lordly attitudes and I tended to walk around with a chip on my shoulder. The combination was flammable.
I live around ten miles from Notre Dame and it's the same deal around here. I worked there for awhile in the stadium and it was a nightmare getting home after a game even though I had a set parking spot inside the stadium.
Oh and Notre Dame fans are slobs. I helped clean the stadium on Sunday after a game and most of the mess would have been easier to get rid of if there was an industrial sand blaster around. Cups, food wrappers, nacho cheese dip laying around the stadium. Trash everywhere. I never looked at the stadium on TV the same way again.
Sooo many college fans are so rabid about their local teams that it's ridiculous.
I hate the people with the UC Berkeley stickers or license plate frames. I have yet to see one that knows how to drive. If they're in a Prius it's like double jeopardy.
What's the deal with Prius drivers? They do seem to have their heads up their backsides. Not just liberals with their coexist bumper stickers. I was tooling down the highway going 55 yesterday, when this guy in Prius pulls out in front of me. All he had to do was wait 5 seconds as there was nobody behind me. I pulled right up to within 4 feet of his bumper only to see a Trump sticker. Point is, they do this kind of shit all the time here in SA. I had the privilege of waiting for one of these tools as he pulled off the perfect 6 point turn around by the airport last week. There were empty parking lots on either side of the road he could have pulled into to turn around. He got to see both of my middle fingers...
That's their self-righteousness being expressed in their driving.
