WEST LA VETERANS AFFAIRS CAMPUS UNVEILS PLANS TO PROVIDE HOUSING TO HOMELESS VETS. OK, first off, yes, this is a real ABC site. Second, it was posted today, not 2 or 3 years ago. That being said, this seems a good way to help Veterans out. What say you?

I hate to be the fly in the ointment, but I have my doubts that this is a completely altruistic move.
My first thought was 'who owns the land', but since they're going to be using existing VA facility land, that isn't the thing. My next thought is 'who is going to get the contract'. That is yet to be determined, but I say we need to watch to see which politician or VA administrator has a friend or family member in large scale construction. They are saying that it won't be a ground up build, but remodeling existing buildings can run into more cost overruns than new construction.
I am down with anything that TRULY helps veterans and even of course if it takes tax payer money as that is one of the few things that I agree taxes are indeed the purpose for such things. With that said, I say try to help them with their alcohol and drug problems and have them psychologically treated and if they have families try to re-integrate them with their families (the families will need assistance as well). If they have no families then things like these are long term, but if they have families this should be short term solution. I believe the best spot for a veteran is with their folks.
Lets hope it doesn't end up being like the scam being run by these guys.

Between the VA bureaucrats and LA real estate developers, actual veterans will wind up getting screwed again.
Let's hope and pray this isn't the case as our vets have given too much already.
