Justin Amash: Why I Trust Ted Cruz:
As a libertarian Republican, I have spent several months promoting the candidacy of my friend Senator Rand Paul, who is, in my view, the most passionate defender of our rights on the national stage today. Since his departure from the presidential race, I’ve been asked many times: what now?
It’s easy to withdraw from politics when the positions and priorities of the candidates do not precisely mirror our own. But we owe it to our beliefs to find constitutional conservative political allies who not only respect our philosophy but also fight for our views to be heard.
We have found such an ally in Senator Ted Cruz.
For those that prefer a conservative to the corporatist liberal with bad hair and that other guy this endorsement may come as good news.

I don't understand how people can thing Cruz is a natural born citizen of this country. He is a natural born Canadian, a naturalized citizen (made a citizen by a provision of law) of the US of A.
No. He was born a citizen of the USA via his Mother... I think, not 100% sure, that his Father was naturalized USA (?), that part I don't know, but his Mother being a USA citizen clinched it for him... you know like Obama? He just happened to be born in another country, but he never negated or rescinded his USA citizenship. Like DRB stated, it is not that hard to understand.
You are a natural born citizen of the USA if:
- You are born within the confines of the USA and its (legal) territories including embassies and bases. Which is why there are people called "anchor babies".
- You are born from/adopted by one or two USA CITIZENS (natural born or naturalized) regardless of the location of birth.
-Either or both
Wrong, he is not a naturalized citizen, Cruz is a citizen by birth. it isn't that hard to understand.
Cruz thinks that natural born citizen…
and Natural Born Canadian should be interchangeable,.
the fact is they are not,
He was born in Calgary, Alberta.
Basically, you are saying any service person who has a kid while stationed overseas with a spouse who is foreign, that kid is not eligible to be President??? Cruz did not have to petition for citizenship. He had his birth registered with the embassy, which any service person who has a kid while stationed overseas does. Therefore, he's a natural-born US citizen.
John McCain was born in Panama, but he's still a natural born citizen, because he has a natural born citizen parent. Cruz was born to a natural born citizen, so he is also, unless he renounced his citizenship, which he never did. You need to stop trying to sound like a Hillary supporter.
McCain was born on a U.S. military base, his father was in the navy, and that is the difference between him and Cruz.
It doesn't matter. All that matters is that he was born to an American citizen, that he never renounced his citizenship, and that he lived in the US for 15 consecutive years before running for president.
Raphael's , Cruz first name, father is a Cuban, so he is a Cuban-Canadian. Congress tried to declare McStain natural born, big error on their part. They can declare nobody an NBC,
either you are or are not. McCain is not, Romney is not..
Foreign soil
In 2000, the Congressional Research Service (CRS), in one of its reports, wrote that most constitutional scholars interpret the natural born citizen clause to include citizens born outside the United States to parents who are U.S. citizens. This same CRS report also asserts that citizens born in the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, are legally defined as "natural born" citizens and are, therefore, also eligible to be elected President.
This opinion was reaffirmed in a 2009 CRS report, which stated:
Considering the history of the constitutional qualifications provision, the common use and meaning of the phrase "natural-born subject" in England and in the Colonies in the 1700s, the clause's apparent intent, the subsequent action of the first Congress in enacting the Naturalization Act of 1790 (expressly defining the term "natural born citizen" to include a person born abroad to parents who are United States citizens), as well as subsequent Supreme Court dicta, it appears that the most logical inferences would indicate that the phrase "natural born Citizen" would mean a person who is entitled to U.S. citizenship "at birth" or "by birth".
The Naturalization act of 1790 was voided by the Naturalization act of 1795, which corrects the error. Raphael forgets to mention that.
Except for one problem, Cruz was BORN A CITIZEN, he didn't have to be naturalized! He wasn't an immigrant because he was born to a citizen. I know you hate that little fact, because it kills your argument, but facts are facts.
Now, give it up and go watch Trump lie about his tax forms that he won't release.
And, you're completely wrong.
That's my congressman. I'm awfully proud of the guy. Only representative I've ever had, at any level in any locale, that I've written to just to say, "Good job." Last election Amash had the Chamber of Commerce and almost every establishment Republican against him in this area, but he still won. This is a deeply conservative area and we tend to be educated understanding conservatives, not knee-jerk Trump supporters (just thought I'd throw that in). If you remember, in the session before that, Amash was the first guy Boehner fired from his committee positions because Amash wouldn't toe the establishment line. Basically, he's the House version of Cruz so I'm not sure why he wasn't in the Cruz camp from the start, but oh well at least he's there now.
Amen, JP. He's my Senator, too. First guy I've ever volunteered for.
He's not my Senator, but I follow him on Facebook just to see what he's up to, and what his take on things is. I WISH we could elect someone like him in California.
I have been trying to explain my support for Cruz for a while, to many people. Some are now actually seeing what I mean.
I actually support Cruz as well but I think what happened in Iowa concerning the rumor that Carson was pulling out will hurt Cruz- legitimately or not. If enough people who are fed up with among other things, underhanded political trickery will refuse to support someone they've been led to believe is a dirty politician (a redundant term, I know).
How many have been called stupid by Trump goons for supporting Cruz? *Raises Hand*
This reminds me of what happened when I lived in CA and we recalled Gray Davis as Governor. We had a great candidate in Darrel Issa poised to run (and win), but then Ahhrnold got into the race and, with a populist message, took over the campaign, causing Issa to drop out. I am ashamed to say I got caught up in the populist rhetoric at that time. Arnold was so bad that the Democrats now control every aspect of the state government (one of the reasons I am glad I am not there any more). I will not fall for the same schtick again. This time it's 50x as serious, since we are in a national election and could possibly hand the job of the most powerful position on earth to a man who cannot be trusted. I believe it was someone on this site that posted we need to "pray for the president we need, not the one we deserve." I cannot repeat that prayer enough.
