America is BROKE. We don't need to be giving anybody money right now. We need to grow our economy first. The rest of the world can kiss our ass till that happens. To a communist country responsible for the death of some 58,000 Americans, and for destrying the lives of Lord know how many more. And we are drowning in debt, so where is this largesse supposed to come from?
If not for Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson over 58,000 American lives would not have been wasted. Vietnam never attacked us, we had no business being there.
But, that is not the point here. Our economy is in the toilet, unemployment is over 9%, the fools we elect to take care of our business need to be taking care of OUR business instead of other countries problems.
Our gooberment gives out over half a billion per year in foreign aid. Most of it goes to countries that are not our allies, they are our enemies! Why are we giving money to Pakistan and Iran? Libya and Somalia? The governments of those countries could care less what we think and they use the money we give them to keep their citizens enslaved and starving.
All foreign aid needs to stop now. We have our own financial problems and us taxpayers should not have to pay to help other countries with theirs.
Actually, it all started with Eisenhower sending in"military advisors." JFK was to a point of withdrawing when he was assasinated. Some theories about the assasination put that plan as at least one of the reasons he was assasinated. The war had to go on.
May well be St. JFK planned to leave S.E. Asia but he did start the bombing. He never admitted it, of course. I have harbored several varying theories on his death. LBJ could have been in up to his elbows. CIA too. Castro? Sure, why not. He did promise to piss on his grave if he was ever given the chance, which he was several years ago. The Mob? Sure? They hated him and his brother, as did the unions.
Old Joe wondered what JFK was trying to do when he went after the mob and Hoffa. It could be said that much of the money that bought the presidency for him came from those avenues.
LBJ hated the Kennedy family. When JFK won the nomination he sent RFK to LBJ's room in the same hotel to advise that Adlai Stevenson was going to be the running mate. LBJ jabbed Bobby in the chest and exclaimed to the effect 'Tell that sunuvabitch brother of yours that I'M gonna be his running mate or I'll set the entire southern half of the country against him.'
So Ike sent in the first advisors, but JFK initiated the first actual, albiet clandestine, military action in 'Nam. He may well have been getting played like he was for the Bay of Pigs. He won the presidency but he sure had a heap of enemies.

LBJ hhated the Kennedys andthe Kennedys returned the favor. THey shut him out of everything when JFK was shot. For a significant period of time ( a couple of hours) we HAD no President. THey even tried to prevent him from taking the oath until AFTER returning to Washington. hey underestimated LBJ at every turn. He may not have been a great Presidnet, but he wasn't as stupid as they assumed!
I always figured that JFK got into office with an obligation created by disappearing ballot boxes in Chicago, and when he didn't stay bought, he got shot.
From what I know about family, it is a lot worse error to not stay bought than it is to not be bought in the first place. Its a matter of pride.

The U.S. government continues to account for Americans missing in Southeast Asia from the Vietnam War.
Since late 1973, the remains of over 700 Americans killed in that war have been returned and identified.
Many have been buried with full military honors in accordance with the wishes of surviving family members. Efforts continue to recover nearly 1,700 Americans who remain unaccounted-for from the conflict.
