I had to go back and hear this again when it was on tv. However with that said, I appreciate Bono for doing that. It is the truth, we all through our tax money with Bush as overseer and Christians donations in the Name of G-d help save lives. It is the truth. Bush gets NO love for that and no recognition but I am sure the Lord Jesus recognizes this so that I think is the most important thing.
I don't know, Kimmy. It's an interesting philosophical question... or more accurately a theological question. I'm not sure the Lord recognizes government largesse as charity. They are two different things. Yes, Bush did a tremendous amount for Africa but he did it with other people's money, people who had no choice in the matter so the charitable aspect of the transactions was absent. You can argue the Africans don't care as long as they're getting fed and cured, but the fact is they would get much more benefit from the same amount of money if it was given with love and distributed by human faces rather than bureaucratic faces.

I believe that GOD uses eerything to good. So I believe if HE moves a Government and its officials to help in something like this, he does approve. It would be lovely if all this was being done without Government help, but I'm like Kimmy. This is one of the better uses of my tax dollars, as opposed to lining some congressman's pocket.
Ever notice how billions in government aid leads to little more than rich foreign bureaucrats who steal much of the aid and bitter recipients who seem to hate the United States the more we send them? THAT's the wages of thumbing our noses at real charity. It doesn't work. Billions in government aid doesn't do a fraction of what thousands in true charitable aid from Christian churches does.
Besides, if it is forcibly donated, is it truly charity?
However Christian charities did assisted as well. Which was his point too. There are some things that as a citizen I wouldn't mind my tax dollars going to, but yes I do believe that we should be giving a choice also I do believe that he donated his time and his own money and still does to African causes. I do agree that charity should be primarily from individuals and not governments unless the government specifically asks and allows people to allot their taxes to these programs, sadly that is not how the government works. HOwever if you ask me what do I prefer a life being saved vs IRS bonuses I would say a life being saved.

I don't believe in hating on the children while they are children of famous people and so on and so forth... however don't they have someone that helps with wardrobe and hair? I don't know which girl is which but the girl that needs to have hair done... I mean what is going? The other one her hair had nothing going on. THEIR CLOTHES!!!! I mean ewwwww gross... They are representing the youth of the US that is not a good look.
Look at their Mother! And she has designers helping her! Fashion cannot be taught. And true fashion does not mean dressy clothes all the time, nor the current fad look. It is an inborn knowledge of what works for YOU and then emphasizing your assets and reducing your flaws. For Instance, Moochele should never wear a pencil skirt. It is not flattering to her body type. I cut the kids a bit of a break though. It IS their vacation, and they ARE being dragged along Mom's footsteps while she is trying to look intellectual, so they have it kinda hard. We all have made serious fashion and hair mistakes, but we weren't under paparazzi lenses 24/7.
"Fashion cannot be taught..." And sadly, in their parents case neither can class. Hopefully for the kids it's one of those generational echo things and the girls get boatloads of both.
That's the thing, you feel sorry for the girls because they had no control over who their parents are, and they got dealt a bad hand.
