3rd Quarter GDP revised again

3rd Quarter GDP revised downward again. Original October estimate was 2.5% growth, revised in November to 2% and now 1.8%. The original estimate was 39% too high, not even close enough for gubbermint work. Is someone fudging the numbers? We note the presence of brown, sticky material which we don’t believe to be fudge….

Bonfire of the Absurdities: After 35 year career writing software for IBM mainframes, am now self-employed contractor thinking of joining a union and striking for higher wages. Cured morbid fear of heights when I learned to look at them as lengths standing on end. Uncompromising in refusal to accept browser cookies. Amateur investor who has accumulated a small fortune in the market after starting out years ago with a large one. For recreation, I run, hike, kayak and play tennis but will not consider synchronized swimming under any circumstances.

  • This administration is always playing with the numbers. GDP, unemployment, the total number of houses sold the average price of a house.

They also always release the numbers that have been changed DOWNWARD late in the week and preferably just before a holiday. This way, everyone is distracted and not paying attention to what was released. Just like a street hustler playing three card monty

    • This was explained in the series The West WIng. Its called take out the trash Friday. They release a number of stories all at once on a Friday so they have responded to the stories, but no one gets a lot of coverage.

  • So the Gooberment put out a revised revision of the original revision of the revised figures from the original revision? Anyone else thinking ClusterF*uk while reading this?

  • Please defer any discussion of these alleged numbers until a definitive analysis has been issued by the Ministry of Truth.

    • We won't come close to an evaluation from the Ministry of Truth until Feb 2013. Hopefully it won't be too late by then.
