Kentucky’s co-op posted a “medical loss” ratio of 158% for 2014 – for every premium dollar it collected, it spent that dollar and an additional 58 cents on the cost of claims.

Private companies are having troubles too. Blue Cross/Blue Shield is going to quit doing business in New Mexico if the pubic regulation commission does not approve a 25% rate hike. Since this means over 100,000 people could lose their health insurance they will probably get the approval to raise their premium rates.
So then, they won't lose their insurance, they'll just drop it because they can't afford it any more.
Exactly. They are predicting an increase in medicare premiums, and increases in medicare pharmacy plan. I doubt any COLA raise will cover those increases, so we'l likely lose income. And particularly.ug costs, the insurance covers very little, if anything. My plan will charge $13.00 p err 30 day supply of tier 2 drugs. What they don't tell you is that EVERYTHING is tier 2. Generics, ancient drugs that should be nearly free (and were before Obamacare.) Since not as many new, trademarked drugs are being developed, and the trademark oncurrent ones are e piring, Pharma is increasing the cost of their old drugs. Its nuts. Thank you stockholders of Pharma companies.
Your best bet is to check out the $4 and free formulary at Wal Mart and whoever is offering it, then go there with whatever prescriptions you have that are on their list and don't tell them you are Medicare eligible. It will work out cheaper for you.
I go to the VA for most of my meds, because they are free when they are used to treat my service connected disability, but my Metformin I get from Publix pharmacy because it's free there and the VA wants $8 a month for it. Other meds are cheaper at the VA than outside, so it's just a matter of smart shopping.
And we haven't even gotten to'm the point where the federal.government stops subsidizing the health plans. And this year the penalty goes up.to.somewhere close to $635 per person for nothaving insurance. Perfext time for a bunch of folks to.lose their insurance.

I still can't get my mind wrapped up around the idea that the government forcefully requested its citizens to BUY a product in order to remain a legal citizen and if the product is too expensive in the marketplace, it must be bought through the government and if you don't do it you go to jail or pay a tax/fine. Seriously this is the USA?
Actually, SCOTUS denied the constitutionally required purchase of health insurance (or anything else) under the commerce restriction. Then 2 seconds later, they decided thT paying a penalty for NOT buying it eas fine, as long as you called it a tax, not apenalty. I don't claim to have a great legal.mind, but each decision seems to.negate the other.
