  • So... Obamie wants to use religion as a way to get us to give the government more money, but he does not respect religious people's conscience and freedoms. So a religious person has the responsibility to yield to government, but does not have the right to say no to the government. Interesting n'est-ce pas?

  • The Catholic Church should excommunicate all Catholics who vote for a Democrat based on this party's platform.

  • Many catholic priests are very pro Obama so, "watch out for those bus tires Father." I consider it hilarious whenever this regime throws some more useful idiots under the bus.
An no, I no longer have much empathy, certainly not for idiots.

Agreed, separation of church and state only applies when it flies in the face of liberalism and their agenda. However, if their agenda is in direct conflict with church teaching and doctrine, they will claim there is no separation of church and state issues.

    • Completely the opposite of the actual discourse by Jefferson and such a thing does not exist in the Constitution. Overall the Constitution is supposed to protect government intrusion into religious matters not the other way around.

  • So separation of church and state is only okay as long as the church does what the state dictates?
Or would that, perhaps, be separation of state and church?

  • Elitist pagans like Obama and other members of the intelligentsia have no respect for freedom of conscience. They make a pretense of religion to get votes. That's why he suddenly has a new interest in going to church. Kudos to Newt Gingrich for increasingly speaking out against the growing anti-religious bigotry of the elites. Whether the Republican nominee is Gingrich or Romney, they should have a line like the following in their fall stump speech:"I will preserve conscience rights and freedom of religion which are under increasing attack from anti-religion, anti-faith elites." The Republicans should make this into a significant issue because it could do three things. 1.) It could get the Catholic swing vote to swing back away from Obama. 2.) It could get the young evangelical/environmental Obama voters from 2008 to swing back towards the Republicans. 3.) It could get the 31 million evangelicals who didn't vote in 2008 into the voting booth.

    • not at all Z. It's only necessary to keep Christianity out of the State. All other religions are A-OK w/obuma aclu et al.
