A Fine for Not Using a Biofuel That Doesn’t Exist

• This is beyond ridiculous. I am actually for moving to more energy efficient and less polluting fuels, and I think theis is the most absurd thing I have ever seen! It is just such stunts as this that cause people to denigrate the move to being less petroleum dependant. They are shooting the whol concept in the foot. I hear lawsuits coming. I hope.

• But, but,......the E.P.A. spokeswoman said that the requirements were able to be met in a reasonable manner. Who you gonna believe?

• So let me get this straight......the government gives (rewards) 80 million to a company to produce something that it can't and then fines (punishes) the refineries for not using something that doesn't exist. In the meantime, actions that could be taken by our government (another thing that doesn't exist) to reduce the cost of energy in this country, create jobs, and improve the economy are not taken by our congress yet they pay no penalty. Seems to me the refineries should pay the fines using money that doesn't exist just so we can keep this from becoming confusing. I miss Alfred E Newman.

    What needs to happen is...the oil companies and the refineries simply shut down.
    No more petroleum! No more gasoline! No more natural gas! No more lubricants! No more plastics! No more transportation! NO MORE ANYTHING.

    I guarantee things would change likety-split.

    Never mind Heller, this sounds more like the "Wreckers" in Atlas Shrugged. Pass laws that are impossible to comply with, then turn the screws at will on whosomever you want a favor from.

    And the oil companies should respond in kind: when the stormtroopers come knocking on the door for the fines, respond with a well mannered, "Ffkk off."
