Bonfire of the Absurdities: After 35 year career writing software for IBM mainframes, am now self-employed contractor thinking of joining a union and striking for higher wages. Cured morbid fear of heights when I learned to look at them as lengths standing on end. Uncompromising in refusal to accept browser cookies. Amateur investor who has accumulated a small fortune in the market after starting out years ago with a large one. For recreation, I run, hike, kayak and play tennis but will not consider synchronized swimming under any circumstances.

You have to understand the representative/senator mindset. KYSS. Keepp you seat stupid! On the theory that one cannot do anything beneficial if one is no longer in office, the focal point becomes the seat. Anything that would interfere with that is immediately out the door.

Which all means we need a new party with elected people that are willing to throw the corrupt in DC in jail. Of course, how do you keep these new people from becoming as corrupt as all the other scum we send to the Cesspool on the Potomac? When they are candidates (both Dem and REpub) they are all full of integrity and honesty, and 30 seconds after they get to DC they are in the sewer with all the rest of the dogshit.

  As far as what to do when they become corrupt, that's pretty easy: Either vote them out of office or forcibly remove them from office.

That is because the Progressives have taken over the Democratic party. The Progressives are nothing more than hard core socialists and communisits that are driven by the good of the state, not the rights of the individual.

Real, true, classical liberals have more in common with the Liberterian wing of the Repubican party than they do with these neo-Stalinists that now run the Democratic party.

This left-red split is going to cause issues for the Democratic party

  You hit on 1 key point. What progressive really means. It is the American version of socialism/marxism that has been customized for American idiots. Also, "Rules For Radicals" is the American version of "The Communist Manifesto" & "Mao's Little Red Book". Nothing more, nothing less.
