Alabama teachers could receive jail time for accepting Christmas gifts from students. These educators main mistake was not being Obama cronies. Special friends of Barry can accept billions of dollars in tax-payer provided gifts.

When I was a kid, (yeah, that was a long time ago), I almost always gave some sort of gift to my teacher. We also gave gifts to the postman. In my neighborhood, our mailman Charlie, was one of the first exposures to a black man that many of us kids had. He was the kindest, funniest, most loving guy we knew, and we were all very sad when he retired.
Yeah I think the craziness here is that there's criminal penalties involved, not the gift giving itself.
Now, if I were a teacher, and a 16 year old girl made me a present of a (ahem) photo album or such like - well I can see how there might be "issues"....
Cause I am sure that giving teacher a little bottle of perfume, or a "bath basket" is going to change her attitude toward a child. If this is REALLLY that much of a problem, which I doubt, place a $5 limit on any gifts and make clear they are NOT required, or expected.
Too bad the same rules don't apply to the president and congress. They should get real jail time for all the crap they get under the table...
A $6000 fine for giving somebody a ham or a turkey? I guess that rules out giving teachers Obama photos.
