Albertsons to lay off up to 2,500 in Calif., Nev. Looks like Obama’s hope & change is really working! Soon 2,500 union employees will be asking for change and hoping someone gives them a quarter. What? It’s Bush’s fault? Uh-huh!

But unions are GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD, Because they only care about the poor working man, and not about the money they can strong arm from their members.
And giant corporations are EEEEEEEEEEEEEVIL, because they dare to make a profit for their stockholders who actually have the AUDACITY to expect a return on their investment.
And this has SOMEHOW got to be Scott Walkers fault for winning the recall election.

This after 2 major strikes in the past few years. The GimmeGimmeeGimmee mentality of the union is the cause.
No, I cannot blame Obama for this one. I used to shop at Albertson's, until their damn prices were 30 percent more then the food maxx store 2 miles away. The final straw was when I bought potato chips, showed the checker the coupon, and he deliberately did not apply my savings to my bill. They screwed me out of 6 dollars but I have not shopped since costing them easily 2000 in lost sales. Multiply that by a few hundred thousand people and you get a massive lay off situation.
Albertson's is seriously overpriced. I only go there if there isn't an option to go anywhere else.
I used to like Albertson's. They had the uncanny knack of having whatever I was looking for, be it a food item, super glue or whatever. But in our area, we have HEB and they have run pretty much all the competition out of town because their prices are better. Welcome to the world of free markets. HEB is not unionized. (Texas is a right to work state.)
My nephew is VP of his union. A while back, they went on strike because the company wasnted them to start paying some of the cost of their medical insurance. Mind you, the contract they had paid for ALL the premiums for health care (for both employee and family), ALL the life insurance, and ALL their pension. When I pointed out I had had some pretty good healthcare insurance ( I used to work for an Insurance company) but no one had EVER paid 100% of the premium fot the family, only for me as an employee, he nearly bit my head off that sine the head guy of the company was rolling in money, the company could continue to paly evreythingfor everybody. THis is a normally intelligent, rational person. Its nuts!

Now, if Albertson's was hiring 2,500 then it would be our inept, ignorant, and inexperienced presidebt's doing. In fact it would be ALL his doing.
I just heard on tthe radio on the way home today that Savemart Supermarkets (based out of Modesto, CA) had given their union final #'s for their new labor contract. The Union has now threatened to go on strike. Savemart says they'll give it one more try at the negotiating table. I say let'em strike and give non-union workers the package they offered the union. I'm in a union where I work (not by choice) and I'll admit they got us a good contract, but we pay 20% of our health care and all of our own retirement. I thought about going 'Fair Share', but if I ever had an employment issue the union wouldn't do a damn thing for me.
Railey's workers voted to strike in Kalifornia cause they are also under the gun to accept a new contract that they don't like. Railey's even brought in a federal mediator. Now Railey's is saying they have replacement workers lined up. These union folks better start to realize there are people desperate for work, and this is no time to stick your head up your ass and pretend things will get better. None of these supermarket chains are doing that well..could be they don't sell enough condoms, smokes and booze for the 50 percent of Kalifornians that don't work.

Workers who belong to unions have been hoodwinked and sold a bill of goods if they think that their freebie benefits and pensions can just keep on keepin' on! These companies can only be pushed so far before they have to start the layoffs and eventually close down altogether. Wake up! Nothing is FREE!!!!!
